Reviews for "Rogue Fable III"

I'm... not sure. I've tried it once and made it to the victory in one try. The reasons probably are that I'm familiar with the mechanics and was lucky with drop, but it felt like it's not as difficult as RF2 anyway. The game pace is higher though, and there are more of everything - enemies, skills etc, so it's harder to balance I guess. Can't say I really love the new level-up system with talent levels also. RF2 felt more... relaxed even if more difficult.

SERIOUSLY good imo! Reminds me of roguelikes akin to NetHack and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, but with a somewhat more refreshing feel gotten from these dusty shelves. Beatable in an hour you say? Well my lack of skill begs to differ :D

This is my first Rogue Fable game ive ever played, so take my critiques with a grain of salt if you wish. The amount of equipment and food per floor is rather minimal--one piece of food every other floor, my hunger lasts about that long or slightly longer, and equipment is...well Ive never gotten any rogue-oriented armors. Full plate or dragonscale armor? Yup got that. Wizard robes and whatnot? Yeah i got that once. But no leathers, I find that hard to believe. Furthermore, i thought id get heavy looting, not minimal equipment rewards. The runs i get a fire staff, I end up in a flammable-free place. I get a lightning weapon, im sent to a water-free zone. Where is my variety??

So firstly amazing game.

I'm quite slow with finishing the game probably because I multitasked it with most my playthroughs so nowhere near getting the time scores but have finished 3,kinda 4.

Now the 4th time I'm counting personally because I could've won but my curiosity got the better of me. cleared the final floor of all enemies and thought "would there be a secret if I jumped down the pit." Nope, instant death. I feel that was a heavy penalty but also a missed opportunity for a more epic final battle.

I understand there's still ongoing work into it and hope to see more bosses/unique enemies especially at the end of branch dungeons and the actual end.

Awesome!

It seems really great as a rogue-like, it has all the right elements to get you hooked up and the diverse spells and skills offer great replayability. The only problem, for me, is it is far more interesting to play the game in a fast pace and because of this I will eventually forget about my hp going low and die. I have died countless times with potions still in my inventory just because I didn't watch carefully how much damage I was taking per round, because rounds need to pass fast for the game to be fun and after a certain point enemies appear in groups so it is not hard to die like this. I love this game and I keep playing it but the fact remains, after the 10th level or so I always die.
