Reviews for "Firestarter"

god damn spicy

SilverwareGames responds:

I love spicy food and should consider ordering my wings "Little Prince Curry" style.

Interesting! But the biggest problem of this game is that you cannot move around the map with the mouse cursor movement, so when you need to burn just a small part you may accidentally destroy entire district.
The game itself is too random. You may want to burn few buildings, but in the meantime they may get connected to another big complex of them, burning the city to 0 and you can do absolutely nothing about it.
Those parts may be even connected out of the screen. It happened to me lots of times and it makes the game simply unfair to the player.
Also a top-down view would be much better than isometric.

SilverwareGames responds:

Its kind of chaotic, yes, but that was the feel of the original game. We are considering making burning too much cost you a heart instead of game over. Also, top down is kind of a tricky POV to do games in, most stuff is a little isometric. Anyway, thanks for playing.

This game is amazing!!! It feels really true to the original in the anime and it gives off such a cool vibe!
On another note, this music bakes my cake. In fact, this music can bake my cake, and eat it too. If you have the soundtrack posted somewhere like on Soundcloud, Spotify, or YouTube I would totally add it to my playlist! Props to Iannello!

SilverwareGames responds:

Thanks, Marco is going to post the soundtrack on a bunch of streaming and otherwise sites: https://musicalwizardry.com/

It's nice to see that people still remember this anime fondly.
The guy below me clearly hasn't seen the anime if he doesn't remember this part.

SilverwareGames responds:

I'm such a huge FLCL dork, I even had a tshirt from the show. Thanks for playing.

@kvenom: This is ripped directly from the FLCL episode Firestarter, including the graphics.

A description of the game straight from the show:
You are an agent of Cantide, the god of the black flame, and you must stop Endsville from destroying the world.
Your only weapon is flame: matches, lighters, and fire-bombs.
Get the weapons, outsmart the firefighters, hide from the police, torch the city, and purge its demons.
But you must be careful; you cannot burn everything.
If the entire city burns down, there will be no place to live.
Thus, the battle is hopeless: there is no final victory.
The only thing you can do is burn and burn and burn.
Your highest goal is to receive the personal blessing of Cantide, the god of the black flame.

The game is light on interaction, and I don't understand what triggers the police and what doesn't. Some better in-game feedback and scaling from simple to more complex would be useful.

SilverwareGames responds:

Thanks! The police have a random chance of spawning whenever you burn something. I'm getting a lot of feedback about the randomness so I might mess with that in later versions.
