Normally I would praise this game, only complain a little bit about the magic being a bit useless, suggest you to make the game a little bit more Diablo-like but... one thing is unforgivable: the loss of saved games for everybody every single fix you make. You cannot do this. I am taking whole 2 stars away because of this. I have done almost everything in the last quest, but wanted to enjoy the game not freezing constantly as you wrote me that the fix is done. But where is my save? Seriously, I am not going to do it all over again now... Why can't you make the updated version of the game recognize the previous saves? It means that every time you will have to do any change to the game everybody will lose all the progress. This will not make people want to play the game, don't you think? With a feeling of a risk that the next day they will lose all the progress they made? Concluding: bring the previous saves back.

Maxiecole responds:

sorry

Same here: unresponsive. Can't get past the 'Well done prince' dialogue after making the axe. Tried 2x, then tried without talking to the old guy, just collected more things to try make a fishing rod, but again, the game froze...

I remember playing your previous game Dragonmyths. Is this a similar story? For now this looks good, and I would give it 5 stars if it worked. So I hope you get things fixed! GL!

Maxiecole responds:

The freezing seems to be fixed now. Thx.

Yay! I really enjoyed Dragonmyths, so I'm glad to see a more complete take on the idea. I love that there's more to the world, as far as things to do and people to talk to. It's also great that the player character has a more defined identity and goal. The missions seem much more fairly balanced now as well, in terms of reward for work. There's much less grinding, without it feeling too easy. Good balance. Just a couple minor things- I miss having access to a map, especially as now there are NPCs to find to go to certain areas. Its not a large area, and I didn't really have trouble finding people, but I still would have liked a map. I also miss the 'teleport home' mechanic, but I also know it was causing issues in Dragonmyths, so it's not a major issue or anything. I do find the mouse controls a little clunky, keyboard controls might be a useful addition (either used in addition to mouse controls, or as an alternative option). The music and ambient sounds are really great, perfectly chosen for the environment and spirit of the game. It's also neat that you can customize your character at the beginning. Nice touch.

The only issue of note with this game, is I am having a bit of a problem with the game becoming unresponsive... when this happens, the game itself seems to be continuing on, but I can't click anything/do anything. It doesn't seem to be tied to a certain area or event, it just happens randomly in the middle of game play (it might be related to clicking off the game screen. I've been having the most trouble while writing this review). An orc even started to kill me, and I couldn't do anything about it. A refresh seems to fix the issue, and I have yet to lose progress or items from it... but it's a bit annoying nonetheless. This could be an issue on my end, but I'm not having problems like that in other games (I play quite a few on Newgrounds). I'm going to keep playing though, it's still a very enjoyable game.

Overall this is a good game I will be happy to play to completion. I like the art style, and the mechanics work well. I love the little dance the dude does whenever he makes something. The medals are also a nice bonus and fairly done. Thanks for a fun game!

Maxiecole responds:

Hi, thank you for your generous review, I really appreciate it. I'm a bit puzzled to why you're missing the teleport home mechanic, as I haven't removed it. You can use WASD/arrow keys to move around, but it would indeed help to have an "interact with closest object" button. I'll look into it.

The freezing seems to be fixed now.

Thanks for the review.

It does not work properly and gets very messy from the beginning.
Also the idea is nit anything new.
