Reviews for "Animation vs. YouTube"

Good, but I'm starting to feel like you're running out of ideas...

Alan Becker your videos never let down. You're awesome . This is totally worth five stars and I think that everyone will agree with me .

Ha cool that you still make these. Used to be half of the stuff I watched here was stick figure fights.

Great animation as usual.

This was a very clever deconstruction of YouTube's layout, as expected. Great blending of stick figure action with what was going on on "your" screen - as is your forte, and has been for years. Congratulations on another well-spent effort!

However, the amount of exposure you gave to YouTubers like PewDiePie and Markiplier - not to mention the fucking viral videos - REALLY hurt my enjoyment of the video. I understand that you made an "Animation Vs." and you kinda HAVE to incorporate elements of the medium you're working with, but even seeing their faces turned mine sour. If you ask me, you could have just as easily stuck with the videos of heavy traffic and other visually "busy" videos for the physical humor/fight sequences, while not being so... topical, I guess. Sorry that my prejudices against Let's Players and memes had to knock a whole 20% off of a perfect score; it was just a lazy joke that went on for too long, in my opinion.

Still, that's more of a personal gripe. The animation was splendid as always, and the anthropomorphism of YouTube's video player was cute and well-thought-out. I loved the various visual gags you stuck in there involving YouTube's annotations. I also really enjoyed the "communal YouTube theater" thing the Animations had going on there! It was sweet to think that they're just normal stick figures in their downtime... when they're not beating the shit out of your mouse cursor! ;D
