Reviews for "August 25th 2017"

I really loved the art and the general concept. The atmosphere and characters were made impeccably. That is an absolute bravo, 10/10.
I think the concept in general is touching, I enjoyed the overall sentimental feel of the game. The music was very well chosen for the scene.

Constructive Feedback:
I don't think the character had to move so slow, maybe a little faster would be fine. It takes about eleven long seconds where you're just holding down the right arrow key, to get to each of the five doors, and the same pace to move around. It's fine the first and second time, but around the third, fourth, and fifth time, and even sixth (to get to the next part of the game), it gets a little redundant and I could see that maybe you felt that the slowness of the character added depth to the overall environment or theme of the game, but in this case I felt that the speed could have been a little bit faster.

Next,
I think to have a greater impact in a game like this when you're dealing with subjects like death, existence, and missing people, you need to have the player develop a positive and close or affectionate attachment to the character that eventually dies. I think the interaction with the npcs were too short in this game too actually create that, and for me, the dialogue did not create that positive/affectionate attachment. Perhaps if you had used real people instead of animals, that could have greatened that effect.

Also, I believe the character we played killed the npcs someway, either by not giving them their medicine, or accidentally or purposely giving them the wrong medicine. I played this game twice. The first time I was not use to the controls, and accidentally chose the wrong medicine, not knowing how to deselect it, which after my next visit to that same patient in the second round, caused them to die. That factor works against the sentimental aspect you were aiming for in the game. It is hard to feel "grief" for someone you technically killed or caused to die. I mostly felt responsible for the npc's death, and so it did not click logically for me, why my character decided to lie on "my victim's" hospital bed.

All in all, I think the game visually is perfect. The concept of the game is there, but I think it can be improved slightly. Thank you for making this game though. I enjoyed experiencing it.

The game was going well, but it stopped with a white screen the first time the character went to bed.

Verzinsky responds:

He died!

Cool idea - naturally, I gave them all the wrong medication since they're all gonna die in a few days anyway. They didn't complain

I've missed you. Thanks for make this.

Wow. This is definitely incredible. I lost my godfather around this time almost two years ago now, so this hits close to home. ; - ;
