Reviews for "Reverie"

Man, this game was short but I loved it. It was confusing at first when drawing the shapes, but it got easier the longer it went on. When you had to destroy the enemies, it was a little difficult for me to time the attack, but other then a few little things here and there, it was great.

DigitalCartridge responds:

Glad you liked it. I am working on a few new levels. Hope you'll come back and play them. :)

Interesting but movement mechanics are not fluid enough. I kept getting stuck at the light level because you have to jump to go up hill.

DigitalCartridge responds:

I should have improved the controls and movement a bit more before releasing. I am gonna fix the movement and shoddy control issue. In the meantime if you like, you can check the itch.io version. It seems to run a little snoother there. https://digitalcartridge.itch.io/reverie

I really wanted to finish the game, It was draw well and had a nice concept. However I had to rage quit haha. The mechanics are lacking. The girl wouldn't move when I wanted her to and wouldn't stop or jump when I wanted her to. It was frustrating.

DigitalCartridge responds:

I updated the game yesterday. Hope you give it one more chance.

I really do like the idea, the well-done atmospherics, the foray into experimental platforming, the malevolent music, and so on.

However glitches and bad physics make this difficult. Drawing shapes does not always seem to register, and it seems I got stuck on the third or fourth level (forget exactly) in between the edge of the seesaw and the cliff. [R] should restart like virtually every other platformer for occasions like this, or simply wanting to restart. Drawing objects inside solid areas can produce some weird effects and maybe should be blocked in the first place. On the level with the boat, I'm not sure if there is some new shape to be drawn or if you intended two squares to cross. If the former, that should be made clearer.

Finally, when I came back to the page from playing earlier, the progress I made (completed a few levels) was wiped and I was put at the beginning. I tried playing again then hitting Pause -> Exit but even then it was not saved! You should fix the save feature or you may have some disappointed players on your hands.

I'll look forward to an updated version in the future, but at the moment all that and the shaky physics are putting me off.

I am gonna fix the physics issue as well. In the meantime if you like, you can check the itch.io version. It seems to run a little snoother there. https://digitalcartridge.itch.io/reverie
