Reviews for "Future Fragments - NEW Electric Level Demo"

Congrats on making it to Featured, lol. Nice game, pretty difficult but amazing

I thought the last version was great--I got a lot of good laughs from it. This one seems to be of the same quality, so that's awesome!

Unfortunately, the sound isn't working for me. I am using the latest version of Chrome, and I made sure the settings weren't muted in the game. Restarting the browser or computer didn't help, and my speakers are definitely working. Dunno what's up, probably something to do with my bad luck :p

Odd, the only thing I could suggest at that point would be to download the free standalone version; if you're not on Windows, you could try using WINE to run it on OSx, but that should definitely fix the problem.

There could also be some sort of other problem with the browser where it's auto-blocking the sound on Newgrounds for some odd reason, too; if other games on Newgrounds or browser-based game sites are doing the same, then that's probably the issue.

Sorry about the trouble, and thanks for the rating and review!

I honestly had no real expectations going into this game. In fact, I usually hate porn games cause I typically just want to wank and move on but the game won't let me because I have to go through a bunch of tedious bullshit just to get to the disappointing lame-ass sex scenes.
But this- this is different. This is a porn game that I can actually play for the game. The occasional bit of porn is just a fun little cherry on top.

BAM! Right out the gate you hit me with these beautiful high-res sprites and it's all just pretty as hell.

BAM! Full voice cast (a competent one too). And I mean FULL. Every word and line has a voice to match, which is, like, woah. I mean holy shit.

BAM! A big sprawling plot that has just enough silliness for porn but with actual depth and tons of bits and pieces throughout that makes you want to know what happens next. The characters are each unique and charming even the bit characters manage to add something of their own.

BAM! Fucking A+ level designs. The stages are so fun to traverse backtracking is pretty much never a problem because you can almost look forward to reconquering an area.
The boss level of this demo was the real stand out for me in that regard.

As far as issues go I would say that the gameplay animations aren't as smooth as I would have liked. I almost hate to say it knowing how difficult animating a bunch of sprites is but considering quality of the sprites themselves and the animation there seems to be a gap.

There was a bit of a bug when I did the "crawling into the vent" scene while standing on the ceiling and I couldn't see the results.

And finally, the game play could stand to be a little more fast paced. It has the elements of a platform shooter (metroidvania) but everything from the shooting to the jumping feels a little slow and that makes the enemies a bit more of a pain in the ass than they need to be. Not that they were too hard but rather an annoying obstacle. I had the thought that the enemies would be much more complementary to the level if the game played something like Megaman.

Overall this game just bleeds care and loving craft from every nook and cranny. When the full version is out you've got yourself a buyer.

Wow, what a review :D

Thanks a lot for writing this all out and the rating too!

We're really glad that the game came across as intended, pretty much in everything you listed here, there's not really much to say as far as the first half goes, haha.

About the animation quality, we kept the framerate low just because of how many animations there are in the game, yeah; we wanted to aim for lower framerates to get more diversity and density of animations in the game, rather than stick to only a few animations at even a few frames higher, which would have been the tradeoff.

The crawling into the vent in anti-gravity is a huge bug we missed, AFAIK it's the only one left but it's a big one! It'll be fixed for the full game though, for sure.

The reason why the game is a bit slower paced than you might expect comes down to three things;

1) Each level has significantly different mechanics in it, and the Electric Level is as a result the "slowest" level in the game due to all the puzzle mechanics in it. The Ice and final level (The End) are more action-based, and the Fire and Earth level are almost entirely action-based.

2) When we have all the powerups in the game in, you'll be able to cater the gameplay to your tastes, and a few powerups increase your speed/gravity, and there's some that do the opposite, too; as a result, the "neutral state" is something we felt most people would be able to handle when playing, going back to more older platformers rather than the hyper-floaty stuff you see in games like Super Meat Boy and other modern platformers, etc.

3) In general though, as the game is fairly plot-based, we wanted players to not feel rushed through levels, and to learn each enemy's mechanics and counter them with more of a slower approach; think something like Metal Gear Solid, but a platformer. The sequel to this game will be much faster paced and play more like Metal Gear Rising, so if faster games are more your style, definitely look out for that one :D

Thanks so much again for the review and rating, and we really hope you enjoy the full game!

wow..
