Reviews for "Lampshade"

In chapter 3, to the right of the red room you can end up in a crevice with no way to jump out.

Fun game though.

MNWS responds:

I'll look into it, thanks.

I love how much this game pissed me off! Just by taking away the simple sense of SIGHT. The music and atmosphere really made me go back to childhood. I got a mix of Zelda and a couple other games from this. I died and died and died, but finally started to figure out the patterns.

Thank you for making this.

I haven't beaten it YET, but I WILL!

I can't recommend this enough, like holy hell nostalgia hit me hard in this game and it was executed so well. There is nothing that I can recommend to make this better. The atmosphere was perfect, the sound was amazing, the difficulty was just right for this style of game, and the art was simple yet fantastic. If I could give more stars, I would, I loved this game. I did a Let's Play of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8lsS7p3YHg, I had to cut it before I wanted to, but I've continued to play it and I just love it so much. Amazing work.

MNWS responds:

Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
I enjoyed watching the video while it lasted, it did end rather abruptly :)

Nice concept, but executing could be better: Movement feels sluggish. Some parts require precision jumps which can be frustrating given the controls and the pixel art.

There's some beautiful puzzle design in here, particularly Chapter 4, which builds on all the mechanics introduced in a very pleasing way. As others have pointed out, Chapter 5 is a slog even when you sense that the unseen platforms mirror Chapter 1, which by that point is too distant a memory to proceed with the precision that the jumps involved require. I see in other review comments that it's something you're looking at, so for my two cents, I wonder if you could end Chapter 4/begin Chapter 5 with the original protagonist proceeding through some twilight rendition of Chapter 1, either intercut with her Orpheus's rescue attempt or with that following on. Hopefully that would refamiliarise the player with the Chapter 1 layout sufficiently to make it less of a slog.
