Reviews for "Toxic Surfer"

Some of the reviews are very harsh, this is far from a 0 or 1 star game, the bare bones are there but the game could do with a wider area to surf and the ability to move from left to right as well as maybe crouching to mix up the options and keep it fresh for longer. Also landing on top of certain obstacles like the cars shouldn't be a wipeout and landing on a crow from above should splat 'em Mario style.

I have no problem with random obstacles however they should be in waves with clearly defined methods of defeating them or going around.

I didn't get very far (so my apologies if this is already the case) but changing environments as you surf would provide visual rewards to the player without any real gameplay changes. As well as different hazards depending on the environment. idk

I'm going to agree with what Vayday had to say on this one. I don't mind the sounds, the pixel art, or the concept of the game. It's been done before, but not that NG is swimming with originality anymore.

What I would say though is the size of the character, the playable size of the screen, the hit box and logic behind enemy spawns really needs to be fixed. Literally almost each time I died it was to situations where avoidance was impossible. Stay on the ground I hit the car, jump high I hit the bird, jump to time in between and there's a missile.

I think the game could potentially be an enjoyable avoidance game with the look and feel you have. But it really suffered from mechanics and design issues that I think if you reworked would be something far more playable. I would also like to see something like maybe instead of just distance+coin=score, make distance the goal but coin allow for upgrades, even if the upgrade is just "I can buy a bomb or extra life that gets me out of the impossible situations".

It's kind of nice to look at, but nothing else going for this game. Too simple. Too slow. Too difficult. There are too many hazards and not enough ways to avoid them. You can start to avoid one hazard, and a new one will appear before you can recover, and it kills you and resets everything. There's no shop screen or high score or anything so there's no drive to improve oneself nor any hope that it will get better or more interesting as you go on. You should take this whole concept back to the drawing board.

looks nice, i'ts a tough game but fun. on the other side, have you ever played it by yourself? you can't place enimies by a random generator, or impossible situations will arise. that's considered unfair. replace it by level design, possibly combined with random sequence variations. hang loose.

Thank you for giving the game a try! Don't worry, we have played the game ourselves! We have just released an update which hopefully solves some of the impossible situations that occasionally arise. We appreciate your input!

The pixel art is nice, the sounds are good too. The mechanics work but like others have said I would balance the size of the character, obstacles, enemies and their corresponding hit boxes. High difficulty is great but at current the game feels a bit unfair rather than difficult but a few tweaks could make this a really fun game, keep up the good work!

Hi, we have just released an update for the game which solves some of the impossible situations that might arise. We are glad you liked the pixel art and sounds. Thank you for playing the game!
