Reviews for "Prophet"

Cool game.I like that every level gets harder and harder and when you beat them youre happy as f*ck xD

good game levels get harder is the games a like because when you finaly beat them it feels good

Top game with very well-balanced gameplay (I thought this was just hard enough to be challenging, but even the final few levels were not too frustrating) and beautifully realised level design. Excellent music and sound FX that matched the various scenarios shown in the levels perfectly and I liked the little touches like the rain, snow, birds and fireflies. Even people who don't usually like the pixel art effect will surely appreciate the artistry that went into this game.

It's not clear why this game is called "prophet" as there does not seem to be any unifying theme between the levels, and the settings (the snowscape, the office, the jungle, the burning car apocalypse etc_ are quite disjointed. But the way the game incorporates music and colour to match the themes is great and feels very atmospheric.

Downsides are few but worth noting. I found the using the "jump" key while running did not always work, which could be frustrating, and I wonder if this could be a problem for other people too (saw this on someone's playthrough video - they sometimes said "I pressed jump!!" but the character didn't jump; it's also possible we are just getting the timing wrong and pressing jump after the character is no longer in contact with the platform, but I'm dubious).

The tutorial levels are badly designed because you only show people how to jump left-to-right when jumping between walls. It's important to know you can also "climb" a wall by repeated jumping: to climb a right-hand wall, it's important NOT to press the left-hand key (pressing left+jump is the only wall-climbing instruction given in the tutorial), just hold the right-hand key and keep pressing the "jump" button. Very frustrating to try playing the game without knowing this! It would have been easy to incorporate the instructions for this vital skill into a tutorial level.

At the start of a level, pressing the movement keys (e.g. because you're impatient, or you're still holding them from when you died) instigates character movement before the screen has settled down (there's a very nice intro effect where the screen deblurs). This often results in instant death... it really wouldn't be hard to prevent key presses starting movement until the screen has deblurred. There's no benefit from letting players move the character (which 99% of the time will be accidental) during this stage.

To be honest, this game is real good. Not that bad but still. FUN. The levels gets harder and harder. That's the type of games that i like to play. Keep up your good work m8.

It was pretty good, my one real complaint is that it wasn't hard enough, funnily enough! It only got somewhat challenging for me around the higher teens of levels.
