Reviews for "Primal Champions"

In the first battle I faced a Goblin Highborn which killed both my champions, Game Over. Well, that was dumb.

MonoFlauta responds:

In the first battle? Sorry but I think that is impossible. Do you think you can repeat that and send me a screenshot?

Though thanks for playing it :)

Fatal flaw with Tindra. when another hero is Ko'd her healing is completely useless cause she tries to heal something that is not there. So she can't heal her self cause she is scripted to heal the character with the least HP. Need to set it so if the other hero is Ko'd she will heal her self and not try to heal "Air."

MonoFlauta responds:

Sorry about that, I will check it out. I was sure it just healed the character with least hp if both of them where alive.

A rather well put together game with excellent voice acting that is held back by a few design problems.
-The indicators for abilities should be larger; the circle bar is so thin that it is hard to tell at a glance which abilities are ready
-Random XP is a bad Idea; additionally, since champions who die don't get XP, the tank levels up faster than the DPS. Usually games would compensate for this by tanks having protective abilities or with a range system, but both of those are absent in this game
-It takes too long to walk from one map point to another, and often not clear which arrow key goes in which direction
-Actually, this last bit is a bug and not a design problem: I had a meal with Thalquin and got 8 orbs, but I still can't use my primal abilities.

MonoFlauta responds:

In order! (Sorry my native language isn't english)

-Did you played it in another resolution? Is a bit weird what you are saying because (at least for me) is really clear the circle bar. Though it is true it could had been bigger.
-I totally understand, we just though it would add a bit of dinamism that each character level up different and we though that wasn't a big deal.
-Yes, we though about making it faster, but also, after all the reviews, if we ever make another game like this one I guess it will be just click and go :)
-The meal is actually an easteregg, you will be able to use them at level 12 though.

Thanks for playing it and all the tips, if we make another game like this one we will take this in mind.

What's the point of tapping the Q and A keys if you only attack with it. If you could charge attacks or if tapping them exactly when they charge gave bonus damage, I would understand. But the way it is now, I can literally just mash the keys and not pay attention. On top o that, it seems to be an endless grindquest. The exp distribution makes no sense. It looks like you get more xp for finishing off enemies, but that concept doesn't go well with high dps-low dps pairings because you have to wait to allow the other person to attack, and thus extend the grinding process. You then potentially take damage which forces you to return to the checkpoints to heal, which also wastes more time.

MonoFlauta responds:

Actually, at level 4 you use W and S too, and at level 8 E and D and then at level 12 R and F. I guess is our fault for not being clearer on that but we supposed you were going to play it least till level 4, sorry about that, I invite you to play again if you want.

Is not an endless grindquest, I mean, you have small seconday quest per world and then the main quest you finish in the world number 5.

About the experience, actually it is a random for each one. The probabilities say that if you play with both of them alive and finish each fight with both of them alive, the most probably thing is they get level 20 (top level) together, but it can fail. Maybe this wasn't the best decission.

For last, about the checkpoints, we though it wasn't a waste of time since it makes you to take a decision to go back and heal, or keep fighting. But is just our opinion.

Sorry for my english, my native language is spanish. Hope you find this answer useful and maybe want to give the game another try :)

It had a few very small bugs, but overall I loved the game. I played it right to the end. I'll have to try it again some day with a few more characters to see the variety. I played through with the tank and damage all characters.

MonoFlauta responds:

Glad you like it! Thanks a lot for playing it :)
