Reviews for "Dystopia 101"

the game is slow, unresponsive and just downright buggy.

If I click a button to remove a corpse, it takes three or four seconds before anything happens, if I tell a guard to run to a worker, they should INSTANTLY start running to that place, bad game all in all, everything takes too long. Make things happen instantly next time, this game is shit

Arbeit Macht Frei, the game!
Original, I'll give you that, and quite fun. Few little bugs I've found though: Firstly, on the Third Mission, one of my workers got stuck in the top right corner of the fence, flipped upside down, and his HP plummeted constantly, -8500 at last check. Secondly, on the same mission, one of my workers appears to have leapt the fence and was wandering around outside the compound at the bottom middle.
Despite those minor issues, I'm having a lot of fun. Nice one :)
Responsiveness of guards and workers would be nice to be upgraded a bit- there's always a sizable gap between orders being sent and them actually effecting things, not that they always even do!

Thank you for your review !

About the fence bug, I will check that. Fences may sometimes hurt the workers and he may have been stuck in a corner, but he should have died, instead of going antialive.

About the responsiveness, workers and guards begin their job at the start of each of their "turn". The length of the turn depends on the speed stat. So try to choose quicker workers to improve efficiency, and to upgrade your best guards (now you can hire guards in free mode with latest upgrade).

It lacks a pause button =/

plopix responds:

Yes that's a (lazy) choice of gameplay not to allow to pause game, as I wanted the game to be half rogue half idle, meaning an idle game where you will game over no matter what. I really wanted the player not to be able to prevent the worker from rioting after some time, and to be out of control like if they where having a life of their own (like tamagoshis) so I did not included pause.
But I think I will turn it into something more active and conventionnal in an eventual sequel (or rework), and thus, include a pause button (and more active things to do).

It's just like being in a American prison! LIVING THE 'MURICAN DREAM!

plopix responds:

Well another name for the game could have been Guantanamo Tycoon or AdVenture Communist, but the game was bitter enough, I didn't want it to be politicized, so I choose a half cold half funny neutral name.

Guantanamo has been an inspiration for the early gameplay mechanics, though (like guards not allowing people to talk to avoid rebellion and sleep deprivation, ONU visitations and controls were also partially implemented). And workers are referred as prisonner in the game code, that's the reason why they are in orange. So you are closer to truth that you might have thought. :)

cool
