There's not enough dry signal in a lot of these instruments so when stuff kicks into high gear nothing really... stands out? The percussion needs less reverb I think, just to ground it.

This is phenomenal! Reverb isn't usually something that stands out in a track, but the way it's used here is glorious.

larrynachos responds:

I think I actually paid attention to the reverb settings on each insert, instead of just fiddling with the wet knob until I liked it

I love the sound design in this one. It has a cool cinematic vibe, as you touched upon in the tags. I love the sense of apprehension. It would fit a movie or game trailer very well indeed. The best thing about this piece is definitely the instrumentation, though. I'm really glad you got your hands on those horns. Together with the strings, hard-hitting percussion, and somewhat harsh sound effects (e.x., :10), they work really well to create the mood I think you were going for. If I had to complain about one thing, it would probably be the ending. I think you could've wrapped up the themes here a little more conclusively, unless you intended on looping it, of course. Still, very nice work overall, and congrats on the 11,000+ plays and 700+ downloads! ;D

larrynachos responds:

Jesus, I'm almost at 800 downloads? Holy shit!

Thanks for the review, dude! I'm glad I finally managed to get more than 4 stars from you lol.

I feel like this could not only play as a trailer for a movie/game, but also for a big fight scene or something of the like. I really enjoy the instrumentals and the melody, it's something that's great for the ears.

larrynachos responds:

Oh yeah, it could totally fit into a fight scene!

I'm glad you liked it!~ Thanks much for the review ^^

The trick is to never say that it is too short or unfinished when the song is this good. Then when the audience least expects it, give the song a dose of evolution. Otherwise, they'll never expect a thing. Well done on the allocation of instruments. I would use this for my video, but I am afraid that I had already finished my 36. Though, I will surely listen to this often. It has an organic power to it that well known composers seemed to have lost in their popularity; e.x, Two Steps From Hell - though, Illusions is by far one of their niche works that stands out from the rest, you should check it out and see if it may inspire this song's next stage of evolution.

Sincerely, Dodecrashhedron.
