Reviews for "Earth Taken 2"

Easily a 5. Really liked the game. I also really appreciate the fact that you respond to all of the comments. Thanks for being the model for what many game developers should be. Keep up the Good work

SeethingSwarm responds:

Most comments and reviews are helpful for me to improve as a game designer and I just feel it's nice to make the time to reply to them. It also helps me to make some sort of personal connection with the people that play my games and hopefully shows a little bit about who I am as a person. Anyway, I'm glad you appreciate it and that you like my latest game. Thanks for the 5 stars and the kind words :)

i have a concern, when my character gets killed, it suddenly brings me back to chapter one and it says that in order to continue i have to press spacebar, but no matter how many times i press it, it wont load up....

SeethingSwarm responds:

That's a very strange glitch. I've actually heard about this from two other people and I have no idea why it happens. I'm so sorry this happened to you and I apologise. I've gone through my code and I can't find a reason why this could happen. It never happens to me. You can also click on the continue button with your mouse and if you press A it should also take you forward. If none of that works, you could go to the main menu and load the appropriate chapter. You can also try using a different browser. Browsers can sometimes do really funny things. I did my best to help another person who encountered this problem, and the way it got fixed is that he used a different browser and then everything was fine. I think it was chrome. Earth Taken 2 works fine for me in safari and firefox. Luckily there are ways around this glitch. Again, I'm sorry about this. As I've said before, it has literally never happened to me before and I've tested this game a million times, so it is extremely hard for me to find the problem. Sorry :(

Thanks for still giving a very nice score even though this happened to you. I really appreciate it and I sincerely hope one of my suggestions works for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It has a style very reminiscent of Metro: Last light. The music gave it a very melancholy feel to it. Like tangible despair. PLEASE MAKE MORE GAMES!!!!

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thank you! Metro 2033 was definitely one of the many inspirations for this game and the main inspiration for the gas masks. Other influences include Fallout, War of the Worlds, Half Life 2, Alien Hominid, Contra, Earth Worm Jim, Metal Slug and others I can't remember right now. I'm so glad you like my latest game and that you thought the music was fitting. I'm busy working on a new game called Enter The Flesh Again. If you're interested you could follow me on Facebook or twitter, or just here on Newgrounds. I'll be posting news and pictures etc about this game soon... although I'm mostly active with news posts about my projects on Facebook. Thanks for the nice comments and the 5 stars!

Just as good as the previous installment. I thought the addition of the knife was a much needed improvement, because I remember getting wasted by the aliens because I kept running out of bullets. Also, the last mission for this game was much better than last game's UFO boss, which was more irritating than enjoyable, so kudos on that one.

The expansion of the weaponry was good, and the addition of radiation pills was a nice touch, much like the gas mask filters.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks! So glad you like my latest game :) A lot of people were very disappointed that there's no big boss at the end, so it's nice to know you enjoyed the final mission. Thanks for the nice comments and the 5 stars!

This is the second time you made an apocalyptic game with zero women in it. This blows the entire game for me (although the way the controls are designed can be annoying too) because:
a. over half the population on earth is WOMEN, not men.
b. there's no point in trying to preserve humanity without women because it is biologically impossible, so without women your game is aimless and trivial.
c. I know a lot of people criticized the first game for its lack of women, and the fact that you made a second game without taking it in to account is insulting and shows a lack of growth on your part.

I can't tell if you're a misogynist or just ignorant, but you need to fix this.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Some people mentioned that they noticed a lack of women in the game, and very few seemed truly bothered by it. I do take note of everyone's feedback, and from all the constructive criticism I have received, adding women into the game was the very last thing on my list. Making games like this take a hell of a lot of time and effort, and unfortunately many game ideas need to get cut in order for me to make these free games for you guys. You do realise that you didn't have to pay a cent to play this game, right?

There are a lot of things that didn't make it into the game. The reality is that I'm just one guy, and I don't have all the time and money in the world. I have to worry about paying rent and buying food, and there are a lot more important gameplay elements that needed to be addressed for this sequel than adding women into the game which wouldn't affect the gameplay at all. Earth Taken is at its heart a casual action game focused on running and gunning, and even though I would have liked to add women into the game, that was one of the least important things to worry about. I am one of the few game designers who actually read every single review and try to respond to all of them. I keep all the feedback in mind and carefully choose which ones are the most important ones to address.

Believe me, I am not ignorant about this. Calling me a misogynist is quite an insult. Just so you know, I love my girlfriend very much and I know where everything goes :P ...I am also aware of the fact that in order to preserve humanity, you need women... but Earth Taken is a game dude! It's a free, causal action game focused on killing aliens and upgrading your weapons. This is not a massive RPG made by a big studio. This is a free game made by one person who spent 3 months, working every day, 16 hours per day on this game... and I give it to you guys absolutely free. It seems to me that you might be a bit ignorant about how much time and effort really goes into making these games.

I'm sorry that you think all my work deserves an insult from you and only 2 stars, and I'm also sorry that the lack of women in this game ruined the whole experience of shooting aliens :/
