Reviews for "The Purest of Winters"

Wow

Very nice man. From that sample of the song you showed me I knew this was going to kick ass. The piano was fantastic as always(by the way I got my keyboard today but it has no power source haha). The bells were fantastic you really have a knack for using them. The strings really added to the song nicely. Overall this was an amazing song and I'm really going to enjoy competing with you and everyone else in the contest. Good luck man.

impressive

wow, im very impressed. It takes alot of skill to write music of this caliber. Great work, what type of synth system do you use?

MilkMan-Dan responds:

I used the Midi Keyboard I had always used before... except I used in in cohesion with Reason 3.0.

This is probubly why the quality is much better lol.

Thanks for the review mate.

So pure and gentle...

Hey Dan.

I don't think I have to tell you that i've been listening to this piece for three and a half hours... straight.

I would also like to take the chance to say that because of your piece, if I close or change it, my ears feel uncomforatable... IT'S A DRUG NOW >:(

Anyways onto the song itself!

The gentled bells, and strings, as always your great sentimental abilities usher in a gate load of emotions that I am not ashamed to say have been... well frankly locked up tight in myself. I don't think i've ever felt this form of peace before.

And again, your piano, ALWAYS WITH THE ORGASMIC PIANO!

There is a great load of dynamics in the piece, and though there is nothing but serenity coming in from all angles, it leaves traces of excited power in its wake.

The image I get is so frieghteningly real. A small child runs up a hill, slated with the sheets of pure white snow, as large flakes fall down lazily. Falling down to make a snow angel the child looks up and watches the great gray sky, as it slowly disentegrates into the white haven that its made. I also see the clouds rumbling softly, only because I don't think i've ever actually seen that, and i think it would make for a good image :D.

I have absolutely no suggestions in making this better. Best of luck to you on the contest, I may as well give you my piece of the crown, for I am quite sure you will be the king ;).

First time I gave somebody straight 10's on this account. Take care Dan, keep them coming!

MilkMan-Dan responds:

Maestro, you've been here... holding my hand... through everything.

I'd really like to thank you for taking the time to get ahold of me and tell me about this contest. Like a true friend... you know me well enough to know that this is something I'd love to do.

You gave me hope and you gave me the spirit. I look forward to your submission because I have never seen any challenge set fourth to you that you did not conquer.

Brothers for life Maestro...

hum.... ok

Man, i honnest, that's wonderful, but it isn't the right time for that? This is halloween time i think lol

MilkMan-Dan responds:

lol I know mate... but there is a contest going on for this month for Christmas Spirited Music. They need to get the music in early so that Flash artists will have the time to do their stuff.

hehe thanks anyways mate. Glad you liked.

Finally...

Some beauty brought back into the portal. Ya know, this track is more than just a christmas tune, it's almost soundtrack level. If this was done live, it could be used in a motion picture. It brings out spirit.

For once, a song I can give a full review on.

The softness of the piece brings tranquility into the picture. There is no loud exploits of instruments, and in fact it does not really build to much. However, this is the heart of the piece. The piano is nicely glided inwards without a shocking pattern. It is essentially seamless.

Also I love the lack of percussion in this piece. The simple timpany to change over actually perfects this piece. If any more percussion were to be added, it would ruin the piece.

The strings are... well... perfect. They don't overpower the chorus while providing a secondary melody to accompany the bells.

I am just overwhelmed with the softness of this piece. It strikes my heart and brings back the heart of the season. It makes you want to forget all about gifts and running around. MilkMan-Dan, this piece is gorgeous. Kudos.

MilkMan-Dan responds:

A perfectly golden review to relieve the tension I've felt in submitting this.

The countless hours and days it took to perfect this were really worth it. I can't tell you how much Christmas means to me... I cannot even begin to elaborate.

My heart really belongs to this piece. I don't think I'll ever top the emotion I put into it.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it. And when the time does come. "Merry Christmas"
