Reviews for "Dead and Forsaken"

4.5/5

I truly enjoyed this, very atmospheric in it's design and execution. the choice of silhouette without music or a HUD was iinteresting. The use of a crossbow was inspired, and I like that it is a very nuts and bolts zombie game.
Considering that 9 out of ten shooters is based on zombies (and 8 out of ten games in general it would seem), this feels fresh and different. no blood, not guts, no cheap scares or overtly placed pop culture references. Well done.
I do wish that the character movements were quicker and more fluid and some sort of goal - beyond surviving - was in play, though it doesn't bother me.
it would have gotten a 5 if it were more polished.

its really great of a idea black and white affected the choose to walk or run that's fun. plus the eye's of the Zombies how it drags like that. if you read this you have some work but you have a great idea going don't fuck it up good luck.

Nice game. It reminds me of Limbo, with it's artstyle. Though, you are supposed 'DOUBLETAP' not 'DOUBLECLICK' to run. Also there are some small typos and it gets a little repetive (or however you type it). 3 picos, and 3.5 stars.

meh, the movements of the character were pretty slow, also, you should consider making the zombie movements more realistic, like making the zombies bite. but overall good graphics are a + so i give you a 6 and a half points out of 10, not bad. its not easy to get high scores from me but i like the crossbow concept and a (mostly) original gaming style.

Nice concept, I have a few issues with it though:

a. "Troll switches" - when moving towards the next area there are times that it suddenly spawn 2 to 5 zombies at your character, after putting them down you try to approach the exit... again it spawns another 5 zombies at you, and this goes on forever, you can get a high score easy by just stepping on these switches again and again until you get tired of it.

b. Character movement - press and hold "A" on your keyboard twice to dash backwards and "D" to dash forward, it can save your bacon when used properly but it feels very jerky so it's effectiveness is limited, the breaks after dashing forward is fine.. the problem is during walking! I experienced times where I keep walking towards a mob of zombies even long after I stopped pressing a or d, moving while shooting a lot seems to do it.

c. Scenario - lack of a story scene kinda prevented me to keep me playing it for now. a simple one would have suffice like how he got there, where he's going and how is he going to do it.

overall it's a promising run and gun.

playing tips:
a. 2 to 3 x-bow bolts to the head are enough to bring down the zeds. double or triple click at their heads then wait for that one to go down then repeat
b. listen, stop, look, shoot - the zeds usually growls before chasing you. snipe whenever you can
c. thread lightly when your about to move to the next area, sometimes I mad dash after gunning down the wave that pops out or even before they appear, sometimes you become zombie chow too.
d. you have unlimited bolts, so you can be trigger happy while dashing for the lolz. seriously though keep an eye on the blue dots above the cross-hair on how many bolts you have before reloading.
