Reviews for "Socrates Jones: Pro Philo"

As everyone has pointed out, this game was amazing. Applying the Phoenix Wright formula to philosophy actually makes more sense than applying it to law. It was very exciting to debate philosophy, and it was also much more educational than trying to read philosophy (especially Kant). The visuals were great, especially the designs of Ariadne, the Arbiter, and the protagonist. Music was sweet. Everything is good.

I hope you make more of these, but I'm afraid they'd all end in the same conclusion as this game did. Still, it'd be fun to do this over with various branches of metaphysics.

A fantastic game with lovely music, amusing plot and enjoyable visuals.
Not many games these days expect you to think at ALL. None expect anything but typical lackluster keyboard pressing skills.

With that in mind the characters are very clever and unqiue. Some ranging from friendly to intimidating. The gameplay focusing around having a debate and a conversation on a general scale was done with the best of qualities. I've never seen anyone do anything like this.

It was so incredibly refreshing to actually think about something very meaningful. It's something that more people should play. Thank you for the experience.

The first time I started to play this awhile back, I didn't give it enough of a chance, as it just seemed too wordy and silly. But after reading the reviews from others, I decided to go back and give it a longer chance, and I'm glad I did. This turned out to be a very, very, very enjoyable game, and I can't imagine how much education, forethought, and planning it took to bring it to life. I honestly think it would make a great little feature film of some kind, on par with Fritjof Capra's "Mindwalk".

This game is ingeniously derivative from great thinkers and a great video game series.

Arguing with fathers of famous philosophers, and finding the flaws in their arguments, make players argue as they play the game. I read about these philosophers in college and I will remember them even more because of this game.

Using Phoenix Wright as their mechanic and narrative structure is a nice foundation. The major difference in the mechanics is being able to examine statements in 3 different ways rather than 1, adds the to the complexity of pursuing the argument further. The answers given when you ask them can be wasteful (but not wastefully added to the game), important to game progression, or humorous.

The final act to the game was a great way to tie up the story, and the final answer resonates with what I believe in as well. This was a great game, and I feel smarter and more educated for playing it.

I do have a question for the game designers. Is there an easter egg where, "your face is ugly" would trigger an interesting response from one of the philosophers?

This is arguably one of my all time favorite games. I love philosophy and utilizing it in game play was a phenomenal idea. The execution was on point. You certainly have to think, but it wasn't frustrating or off-putting. I most definitely hope to see more like this!!!
