Reviews for "The Weight"

This is really nice and sweet. I really like how you use the colour scheme. It gives out the dramatic feels. Great choice of music.

Though i did get a little confused in the beginning. Had to watch it for the second time to realize that there's 2 different characters.

Like everyone is saying, I think you're a bit hard on yourself. But then, your natural tendency to self-doubt (I'm guessing?), is probably why you got that great in the first place, so it's all good.

Because any long term project will slowly start feeling bland and boring to the artist, that's why you need a storyboard to quickly capture the ideas and emotions you want to express before it happens. It's perfectly normal to feel disgusted about your own project near the end, or even before, eh. The creation process is quite painful, at least for me, lol. One month isn't so bad, but still..

If you're really looking for a constructive criticism, and honestly it's only my own taste, is to make the main characters more distinguishable. Their appearance is quite similar, having only the hair style and color, which kinda change with lighting in the vid. Nothing a second play can't fix tho. Maybe that's the shot where I lost track of things: isn't the bullied at school dude supposed to be the one wanting to suicide? I know it work the other way around, but I think it would help make sense. A last one: half transitions to the next shot is too much information on screen for me, fade slowly, but I wouldn't let the last shot all the way in the next shot, if you know what I mean. It's like you're trying too hard to explain. Fading slowly can put a style on shots tho, so I wouldn't remove that.

Excellent work, looking forward to the next one!

I love how it's just ambiguous enough that most people can relate on some level. I feel like I learn something more about the story every time I rewatch it.

This really hit home for me in a lot of ways and that did help tremendously with the empathy. Just trust me, You did capture how even the best of friends can completely miss the biggest signs of your spiraling depression at a crucial point in your life. It is very sad, but how many people will see this and not make the mistake of missing that call. There is nothing worse than that pit in your stomach when that call goes unanswered, and I know the aftermath is devastating to the one who went right back to sleep. You certainly have my vote on this one buddy. Great work on this video.

this is beautiful, but so so sad...
