Reviews for "Letter for Mimi"

Everyone, I think the key issues is simply, don't hold more than one key at a time. I found if I was still holding the arrow/move key, the action key would not work, so you have to come to a full stop to use the action key. Once you figure that out and get used to it, it's a lot more fun and easier to play. Just a weird little thing where it only likes one input at a time.

LOL Pokemon refrences! Unfortunantly I can't find the red key

I have mixed feelings about this game.
On one hand, you've just taken graphical elements from other games and thrown them together which is mildly annoying in itself, it makes the game feel lazy and novelty, I actually even wonder if you did some of them yourself or if you just patched together sprites directly from the games, because the characters don't exactly fit in with the scenery. Then you get this comment from the character saying something like "lol the creator of this game must be so creative lolol", must you really plug yourself like that? The whole thing is full of references to other stuff to the point that I feel like the only reason this exists is to be a reference to other games. It's one thing to try and create a retro, familiar feel to your work and another thing entirely to make something that just looks directly copied.

On the other hand, there must have been something that kept me playing until the end and further through the "secret" poster. I can't really complain about gameplay or controls, and I tend to like games where the ultimate mission is just to accomplish a really mundane task like delivering a letter. It's a nice change from being the chosen one who has to save the world, so ignoring how annoyed I was with your theming it's actually a pretty cute little game that I enjoyed.

great game,i had to look through the reviews to find the way sometimes :3

and it just doesnt make sense someone's having an unmovable stone blocking their door.i tried to laugh while i was stuck.

Maaan, this game is buggy as hell. I deducted a full star for that. I had to hit the action key about 11 times and reposition a bunch before it actually did something. Makes it rather hard to know what to do. I still finished the game, but it ended up making me run around quite a bit for no reason.

The story is kinda stupid but it's just a tech demo, so I can forgive that. ^^ The graphics were pretty bad, too, but overall it kept me playing somehow. This is probably the lowest I've ever rated a game I bothered to finish... I don't feel justified giving more stars though, haha. You have a good framework here for a better game, and you hinted you were making one when I did your blue key Easter egg thing. Make sure to fix the bug with the action key, though. It really was a pain in the arse... Also, always be sure to tell people the controls at the beginning of the game. Just a protip from a fellow designer. You'll get flamed less. XD
