Reviews for "Letter for Mimi"

In terms of a game, I have to say this is not very good. The game in itself is just references stitched together with graphics that somehow look worse than the games it took from. The player has a tendency to walk too far in a direction, get "stuck" to objects, the inventory is almost useless, the rock with a soul is totally confusing because it's in the open environment with 100s of other rocks (unlike the tree), the music is a very annoying loop of very few notes, and the fact that text is required to tell the player how they should feel about the game because the game play itself is lacking is just ridiculous. Also, that "Easter egg" is probably the most complicated thing in the universe. I don't know who would think to do those 3 things 5 times each because they're totally unrelated. It would make more sense for a player to play the game and realize the blue key doesn't get used, then use it on a secret lock in the picture. If it weren't for the second game in the series being good enough to merit adding a Newgrounds badge, I never would've tried so hard with this or even noticed it in the first place.

Thanks for your review. The rock has a mirrored sprite to make it more obvious that something is going on. Another reviewer had also commented about the dialogue breaking the fourth wall too much. The sequel to this game improves a lot on these points. The secret was something I added based on rumours I would hear as a kid on the playground. People said stuff like if you get six level 100 Pokémon and you talk to a gym leader they would allow you to be gym leader. Or 'green' sub-zero in Mortal Kombat, which was not playable but through a series of events you could fight against reptile ('green' sub zero). Things like that speak to the imagination, how could a series of random events unlock a secret? Perhaps the examples I gave were not truly random, and your point of having the blue key actually do something to unlock the secret would improve the gameplay experience.

The music is nice.

can you guys explore a bit you might find a Easter egg if you do that =)

Cute game, I liked it.

Short and sweet. And it's a letter for me, apparently. :3 hehehehe
