Reviews for "JUGGERNAUT: Awakening"

No money gain from monsters. Item drops do NOT compensate for potions used much less anything else I might want to purchase. And it takes FOREVER to level up. There is definite potential here, but you need to balance out a few things first. For now, I am only halfway to the first level up and I am quitting from boredom of early game grinding. No game should have endless grinding right from the beginning. Save that for the end.

TheEnkian responds:

That's fair enough. The monsters will continue to drop items in the next game, but I'll address the drop rates and sell values so it's less of a chore to purchase healing items. Grinding is also something that'll be addressed.

Well, the game is really slow, no running buttons or anything, and dealing with enemies is a pain, and is there more moves than magic?

The graphics can be better, that's for sure,

And, it's an okay RPG, so it's a 3 and a half stars

TheEnkian responds:

Yeah, I've been working on other stuff since I finished art for this and my pixel art abilities have definitely improved. Hopefully the next one is more impressive on that front.

A lot of people aren't happy about the running speed, it's something that should be increased for next time. Thanks for checking the game out.

It's an okay game.

Storyline - work in progress so as long as you continue with this then there is potential.
Music - nothing completely epic about it though it does a good job.
Graphics - could be a lot better.
Difficulty - pretty hard, even after you lowered the difficulty and gave more item and leveled the characters. I believe the main problem is exp gained from battles needs to be increased so there is less grinding to become stronger.
Saving - found out I couldn't load my previous save game (on slot 1) after finishing the game and saving the end game data on slot 2. It was still there but a white screen came up with nothing happening. This was quite disappointing as I wanted to finish the side quests and find how to get to that other area on the map (if even possible). So basically... It's broken.
Battles - need more magic, unless you're saving that for later but a healing spell in the beginning would have been nice. Not much strategy involved.

To VoidForce - as you were titled as the artist, it would be nice if you could post any of your work up on your page and congratulations on your first game.

To MSGhero - you have 3 average games and this one is turning out the same. The game sequels I'm expecting to see improvement on.

To Mattlaaa - not much to say. Music fitted the game well so you did your job well.

Pretty average game that could use some work on. The main problem with me that if you're creating an adventure rpg in this style I have to compare you with other games like this. I didn't hate this game and I played to the end so would like to see how the sequel turns out.

As mentioned, the difficulty was simply too high. Not that that is a bad thing, but coupled with the lack of strategy, it made it very repetitive. I had to level up just so that I could flee before the enemies could hit me.
But if you improved the battle tactics and somehow managed to add some more strategy, it could be a very nice RPG. Everything else, the music and the cutscenes were very polished. The art style was interesting. It was fairly basic yet not irritating and seemed to suit the style.
In the next one, make sure the difficulty and progression is right and encourages the player to continue. Getting through it was a strain, I'm sorry to say. And if you can make a more in-depth, strategic combat system, it could be perfect.
The story line was simple enough. Not enough to be able to judge how the rest will be though.
If you fix up the combat and progression, it could be a very decent RPG.

TheEnkian responds:

Yeah, the difficulty seems to be an issue for a lot of people unfortunately. A lot of the main issues that people have with this game will be dealt with in the next for sure. Thanks for the compliments about the other aspects, a lot of effort was put in and it's nice to see that it's appreciated.

Could be improved for very obvious reasons but I'll just let you know what pissed me off the most.

I saved my game, yet I had to start from the very beginning after I loaded.

You're a #$%@ for for making it so difficult and then putting an optional extra difficult battle at the lake. I didn't have any more potions, and if I knew that it was going to be 3 of them I would have avoided that.
Have you ever played an RPG before? Did you make this game to piss us off?
