How come i keep getting game overs even though I let people live?

After finishing the game, I discovered the 'purpose' that 'the creature' served.
I am sad the 'humans' never cared for 'the creature' or aided him, their ignorance posed the main threat.
Another thing, I found the controls easy, but without going through the first 2 areas you would not understand your goal. You would likely mindlessly and endlessly play trying to progress.
Anyways, it was a very good retro style RPG game.
This game is excellent though, im not sure why the medals aren't working
Whatever you guys think of the game, it does actually have an ending. Just don't hurt or kill anything, just the green jellies, the "Unaware." 4 because the combat is annoying. 5 for the pixel art dog thing.

But wait a minute...your goal is to kill everyone or scare the shit out of them untill a tear comes out of theyre eye.....and then you eat the tear???!!!
