Reviews for "Cleansing"

Pretty good game, very nice art. The gameplay is interesting, but pretty boring; if it had even one more scene I think I would have quit without finishing it. I liked the atmosphere, the music set the mood well and the text that appeared after killing is rather unsettling, at first. My biggest complaint is the difficulty; killing everyone is a cakewalk and completing the game without killing anyone is a reasonable challenge, but getting through the game without harming anyone seems nearly impossible when people tend to crowd around in tight spaces. The first two endings were underwhelming, and I was hoping the 'good' ending would be better, but I don't think I'm going to bother trying to get it.

Thanks for playing.

overall not bad... wish you could have used space instead of x thou

aeveis responds:

Thanks! I wanted to use x because I felt it was more visually interesting and worked well as an UI element.

The game has an incredible charm to it... I'd like to see a sequel! Are you planning on releasing one?

aeveis responds:

Currently there is no sequel, this was more of a one-shot experiment. Though this probably won't be the last game I make with a similar feel/mood.

Great game, but I have to echo what other people said about playing the good beast. It is very hard, and currently unforgiving. I managed to kill only 2 sheep (the first because I didn't realize I could spare it) and I seem to have gotten the bad ending, as if I killed everyone. That kind of sucks.

aeveis responds:

I agree the game is pretty unforgiving - that's something I will be more aware of in the future. Thanks!

First off, the game was very VERY I repeat VERY short. Second off, I wish there was some type of story or something to show that a story was there. I also wish there was some way to lose the game, like not killing all the creature within a time or having some guys with pitchforks hit you or the slimes attacking you. I liked the fact that when you were in range of an object it would come up with "x" (attack button". I also wish more objects were destructable. And, really? the sheep ran THAT fast and had more health than humans? that's odd. The music was "ok" but nothing to say wow really great at. The art was decent considering they were pixels, but again not something too great. I really don't see why everyone else loves this game, but I guess they do. Overall, 2 out of 5 stars. I would like you to expand upon this though, the reason I gave it such a low score is because it feels like it's in early developement. If you plan to expond upon this I wish you luck.

aeveis responds:

Thanks for your input! I wanted to leave the story more open - but I did want players to figure out it was "good" to only kill the slimes and try and avoid killing people. The creature represents a force that can't be stopped and was also a constraint I put on myself to see how else I could make the game interesting.
