Reviews for "Wilt: Exordium"

needs to tell you the controls, otherwise its pretty good.

Asvegren responds:

Really? The only thing the player has to 'guess' is using the arrow keys to move. Jumping and attacking is explained as and when it's needed. Is it the arrow keys that were the problem? Please PM if you have further comments!

Great stuff! I'm a fan of the 8-bit style games, and this one was pretty good. It's a fairly short game, but the controls are good, and the music is sets the mood very well. Looking forward to Last Blossom!

Asvegren responds:

Thank you! Indeed it is very short, Last Blossom will be much longer. Development has just reached act 3 of 6 (for comparison, this whole game is shorter than one act in Last Blossom).

Great little sidescroling 8 - bit game! It got ok controls and the gameplay is funn clasic 8 bit sidescroler but i wish you could ad in more action. just running around shooting up enemies gets boring after a while. I think the boss battles spices it up a bit but it would be nice if you could tie all of it more in to the story.

Asvegren responds:

Thank you! The big game we are working on already contains both puzzles and a proper story (which will make sense of this dream), hopefully that will address your concerns.

Pretty good, pretty good. First of all great atmosphere. Fun to play through and the small gamesize kept things from getting monotonous. I thought it was weird that the music didn't loop though. Also the character sprite was the worst piece of art in the game which was odd.

Been watching a lot of Curb lately, so this is what your review sounded like to me!

Thank you for the compliments! Re: the music - it does actually loop! I coded in a fade which happens once in a while (you'll notice the music comes back in eventually). This was done to minimise irritation caused from the chiptune style. I might play with that to make it more obvious what's going on, like maybe playing the music for longer stretches of time.

Good start for a game. I find the first boss too difficult to get past on the later stages because of its fast movement. It would make it a lot more enjoyable for me if there was a way of replentishing the hit points, either after a wave is completed or at random.

Asvegren responds:

Good point. We were thinking that the boss might be tricky, but left it like it was so we could see if that was actually the case. In the main game there will be health upgrades, so it's likely that a boss of this difficulty would have the player have more life to begin with.
