Reviews for "Tiny Evolution Adventure"

Coolio335 must be a retard if he thinks arrow keys and space bar are frustrating controls.. the game was great, but i was looking forward to being the dragon!

AdventureIslands responds:

It's a real shame I ran out of time to add that in. Flying around would have been cool. Perhaps in improved, more polished sequel? Perhaps one day.

I made an account just to comment and say, whole heartedly.. This game annoyed the fuck out of me. The controls are a frustration, in other words broken. It would be easy to fix this game just by tweaking it a little, for the moment it's just lazy programing. Even for a 48 hour game it shouldn't be this bad.

I'm sorry for being so blunt and brutal, I mean no disrespect to you but this is just how I see it, others probably wont feel the same but I do.

I like it :D

The whole look and feel of your game is very impressive for 48 hours worth of work. Simplistic goal, decent pixel art and a nice difficulty curve that welcomes all types of players, but pushes them to perform well. A nice technique of yours that I noticed was that the music doesn't reset after your die. It simply pauses and resumes once you're back. It creates a nice stream-lined feel that doesn't completely halt the immersion nor does it create frustration.

I don't want this next part to affect your overall score because this may be just me and my wonky computer, but I feel this should be noted. When controlling the character on stage 3 with all the jump-biting, I realized the controls were locked during the biting animation. This caused many water and eel related deaths. Also (on the same 3rd stage) just biting while moving seemed to make the character jerk forward and I couldn't correct the movement. Those are the only noticeable hiccups I found. Let me know if that was your intention or if my computer needs a solid slap to the processor.

Thanks for the really neat game.

This game REALLY makes me want to go back and replay Evo. As soon as the first level started I began thinking of Evo.

This is a nice little game in a short amount of time, and I understand the notion of making last minute changes, but for the Lizard stage I would've filled in a few of the bottomless pits or changed the big leaves into solid leaves since there's no flying.

As somebody else pointed out, it's a little harsh that the eels kill you no matter where you touch them. The great thing about Evo was that you could attack enemies that are way too strong for you as long as you bite them someplace away from teeth, horns, etc. I would love to see a larger version this game in the future. Maybe still always a dragon-line but with some upgrading or something.

Anybody who enjoyed playing this, if you get a chance, try to find a game called "EVO: The Search for Eden" on super nintendo. It's a similar concept but you can upgrade your creature's parts and guide it down different evolutionary paths.

AdventureIslands responds:

The game is indeed a bit rough around the edges, I didn't have much time to properly test the game. But glad you enjoyed it. It was inspired by EVO you mentioned, that was very good game!
