Reviews for "IYD - The Void"

Heh... Dunno what the other guys were thinking, I can tell this is a different direction and so it's fine that the synthy stuff was a bit louder (except at 1:45 where it actually is too loud). This is a really cool track with heavy vibes that keep it grounded in the genre while exploring new avenues.

Hey MetalRenard! Thank u so much 4 the review! :)... Yeah, at 1:45 I was intending a Synthy solo... If I make it to the NGADM this year, I'll probably experiment a lot with this kind of music :D

Cheers

I like the gritty synth bass and atmospheric synths at the beginning. The panning with the guitars was cool, and by around :30 the texture comes together nicely. The melodic content at 1:39 was quite enjoyable, and the following guitar solo was great as well. The mixing is really tight here. The coda seemed a little rushed, especially for a piece with a pretty slow pace (one emotional height in 2.5 minutes). Still, it’s hard to find things to complain about here. The structure could’ve used a bit more fleshing out, I guess - usually I’m skeptical of the one-climax model - but the rushed ending is the only thing that actively bothers me. Keep up the good work, IYD! ;)

Thanks! :D... oh man, you've made such an awesome job reviewing each song. You have my respect foreverandevereverever :D.

The drums are a bit too thin and clean for my taste and the synths overpower the guitars, but generally nice track, I like the lead guitar. You could add some more additional guitars to play some rhythmical bends, some glissando, string noises and play with panning.

InYourDreams responds:

Hey thanks! Yeah, the drums may be somewhat thin for this kind of music. I'm mixing at the moment with headphones and not the best ones. I'll step up my composition a lot next time :)... this time I was a little lazy in that area.
