In fact it has potential, but you gotta change some things on the gameplay, the character runs too slow, maybe you could add a Run button :)

This is great, I would definitely keep playing more levels. The style is awesome, you gotta love retro.
The only thing I would improve on is maybe add a run function of some sort? Think about it at least. It would make the game a little bit easier, but I think the gameplay would be better because of it. And more pleasant. Just my two cents. Other wise good job!
