Reviews for "College-Ruled Universe"

I found the boss easy, but maybe I'm just used to other bullet hell type games. The player ship is a bit too large I find, so maybe resize things for the final version. Quite fun, I look forward to the full release

This is fail on a few levels.

1. I hate memorization bosses. There's no way to anticipate, no visual clues, what the boss will do next.
2. The speed to size ratio is way off. There's just too little room to move around to justify the movement speed of the enemies. Sometimes there's literally no where to go.
3. The shading is deceptive. I was dodging things not on my axis, and getting hit by things I didn't expect to.
4. Shield is a gimmick. There's times when you literally have to just block. Shield should be used to overcome a challenge and give you recovery time, not so you can flash a "use shield now" sign, giving it no other practical purpose.

Having a fast game, or a bullet hell game is acceptable, but having a game so unpredictable the only way to win is by memory is an excuse to frustrate players.

I've learned to just drop a game that does this, as 100 levels of die and retry is lame.

A lot of people had issues with the boss. I'll work on giving him some visual cues for the final.

first i thought: lets play this shit before going to sleep, but i played and its great...
i like the fact that it's drawn on college-block and u sometime see the red line(what's on the side of the sheet) music also nice, but like bandana says could use a change

Glad to see you've posted something again! I admired the artwork in your movies and games, especially Dreams, and I can say the same for this game too!
I do think that there are a lot of things that you could improve here... I know it's just a demo, and you probably have more things up sleeves that you're including, but I think that there a few things that I thought could be improved *as of now*... Such as the movement of the ship; rather than letting it directly just move, you could make it accelerate instead. Also, the background music COULD use a change, but that one is largely my own preference.

Anywhos, hopefully this turns out great! Good luck on the project!

LordDF responds:

Thanks man! If this project succeeds at market, I'm definitely continuing Feverdream. (story built on the dreams series)

this reminds me of an old game i used to play on the ps2 called einhander looked similar to this game... maybe you should take a look at the game and find some ideas, just sayin. i liked the game cant wait to see finished product.

LordDF responds:

Actually I've played Einhander. Brilliant game.
