thanks! :)

The minimalist style and story book animation gave the piece an appropriate set of visuals to match your story well, and the music was quite and sweet and overall made for a good choice. Your art style seems a little too borrowed from basic How-to-draw-manga books, though I imagine your still working towards your own style, and is nothing to worry about.

For your voice acting, I would suggest letting yourself rehearse with a tape recorder so you can get a better flow with your words. Your rhythm was quite stilted, dividing sentences into blocks of three of four words apiece and it leads to a monotonous delivery. Also it sounds like you're whispering half of your lines, and I couldn't help but wonder if you were performing somewhere with people nearby that you didn't want to have hear you reading your lines. All your effort needs to be focused on putting emotion into your lines, and if you're nervous then the best thing you can do is practise in front of someone. It'll help you get over those initial jitters and better yet they'll be able to give you pointers on things you might not even notice yourself.

The plot itself was rather confusing, and I don't quite understand why she didn't realize she was writing to objects and ideas all the while believing they were princes, or why she would ignore a letter, or a mountain of letters from a prince when she was trying so hard to attract a prince in the first place. It seems ironic that you would credit inspiration from Utena, considering that your story romanticizes the idea of a young, beautiful man taking a girl away to fall in love with based solely on looks and a few sweet words, when Utena does so much to condemn the entire idea of Prince Charming and gender roles forced upon such a pairing.

All in all "Dear, Princess" fits all too well with Valentine's Day, in that its sweet and sappy and well meaning, but is ultimately shallow and far less romantic than it hopes it is.

thanks for the critique, i'll definitely keep those in mind.

i won't go to far into details of explaining everthing (I'll probably post explaining it on my comments) but:
for the inspiration of Utena, I was only inspired by the concept of the swords piercing the human body. I did in fact, show the part of the condemnation on the idea of "Prince Charming" as the "other princes" symbolized the princess' parents, friends, boyfriend, money/fame, drugs and religion (I worded it "people, things and ideas"). "The Prince" in the ending, isn't inspired by Utena, but rather the bible stories of Jesus Christ (which I also mentioned in the credits, btw).

pretty much.... "The Prince" is Jesus
"the other princes" are things that the princess (each individual, you or me) seek for, but in the end, it's just total BS...

im a guy and i like women this whole thing made me cry TT^TT sadness ive never felt love and i rly wish too once tht day come i hope to fined my one true princess for me to actualy stay and lock my self into her heart and stay with her my whole life but thts if it happens TT^TT its all true though its a real story of life

exninja123 responds:

awww, you'll find her! :)
here's a tip (take it or leave it):
for one to love others; one needs to recieve love first.
recieve love first, and then give it to your future princess?

i almost cried T^T its so beautiful!!!

exninja123 responds:

hehe, thanks! :)

Very touching, well thought out and quite nicely written. A simple fable produced with passion and I can appreciate that. Deducted a star only because the animation was largely stills, but still nicely drawn and if you can add the full animation aspect i'm sure you will make a great flash animator. Nice video.
