bugs galore

As this is a freshman outing, I rated higher than usual for the number of bugs, but:
1) mission 11 description should be "kill 1 locust in a swarm of gringos"
2) upgrades keep appear 'green' before you purchase them (like if you buy normal speical+, it sometimes highlights normal special++ or normal special+++ next time you go to the upgrade screen), but that's moot because
3) after a while the upgrade screen stops showing buttons (I thought perhaps this was a cache or version thing, so I upgraded to the latest version of Flash to try to fix it, but that just erased my save)
4) 100,000 credit achievement still hasn't been given to me at 150,000 credits, but I gave up because I can't buy the scattergun for mission 15 because of bug #3, and replaying mission 7 over and over (the only mission with a decent payout once you get all the stars) gets old fast
5) speaking of playing mission 7 over and over over - this is more of a design bug, but it costs 251,000 credits to get all upgrades, and most missions have a target limit (and no completion bonus except the first time you get a star bonus) so most have Very Limited payouts - mission 7 gets you 3000 credits, so that's like 80 repetitions of that mission to get all upgrades. I guess only 50 or 60 if you don't get locked out of upgrades before getting the chance to star all 20 missions, but UGH
6) the shotgun "additional shots" upgrade actively hinders attempts to do mission 9, and there's no way to remove the upgrades on it (not that mission 9 is much besides luck, anyway)
7) a click-here-to-pop-up-new-window thing is fine on upgrade and credits screen, but shouldn't be on the play field where you're liable to accidentally click it trying to hit enemies rapidly
8) the first screen in the game just says the name of the sponsor, but should have a "click here to start playing" or something somewhere else on the screen, I spent a while thinking it was loading the first time
9) "shotgun only" missions should have the shotgun ammo selected without you having to press U
10) the text of the last achievement/mission you looked at remains on the bottom of the screen if you go to other options (like even if you go to credits and come back, or go to the upgrades screen to see if it's still blank... it is)
11) this isn't a bug, but you'll get better error reports in the future if you include a version number somewhere in the game, either in the credits or the corner of the main option screen
12) Sparks has different hairstyles in the title screen versus the main game screen. Not really a bug or a big deal since they can be said to be shots from different time frames, just an amusing inconsistency

#3 is, of course, the big game ending catastrophe. The rest are polish.

Still, not bad for a first go, and kudos for including amusing writing without a ton of grammar and spelling issues, while not forcing the player to read any of it.

VictorGrunn responds:

12 actually isn't supposed to be Sparks, but I can see how they're similar enough that you'd think they're supposed to be. Especially since that's the one girl without a journal entry. Could have been made clearer on my part.

Still, thanks for this rundown of issues - I'll get to work fixing them up immediately. You didn't mention any repeats of achievements so I'm still left wondering how in the world that problem is coming up - I'll try testing this with various flash versions.

Good Game

It was a good game, just two bugs I noticed:
First: I got the archivments over and over again.
Second: The mission description of test 11 is off. It say I have to kill a redwhale in a swarm of locusts (like in ltest 10), while actually you have to kill a locust in a swarm of gringos.

VictorGrunn responds:

Alright, that's two people getting the achievement bug at least, though it sounds like you're still advancing in the tests. I'll look into it.

Thanks about the test 11 note, I'll fix that immediately. Thanks for the feedback!

Could be good

i feel this game would be quite a good game but no matter what i try (enable cookies, change online file storage, etc etc) it won't let me play properly. It lets me play test 1 says i complete it but then i can't try any of the other tests or anything else really. says i receive 2500 credits but at the upgrade shop it says i have none and it also doesn't give me the likes of the first blood trophy despite it coming up the first time i shoot, every time.
I would like to give this game more than a five but as it doesn't seem to want to work, i'm afraid i can't.
If this is a problem on my end rather than the game itself then i apologise, but i've never had a problem like this with anything on this site before. hope there is someway to resolve it as i would quite like to have a proper go at this game. =D

VictorGrunn responds:

Wow, sorry to hear about your problems with the game. It sounds to me like for whatever reason the game is not saving on your end - do you have cookies disabled or such? This is the first time I've heard of anyone having this problem.

It would have to be related to the save file, that much is certain. If you're getting the first blood achievement each time you play, it sounds like the transition between the stage and the menu is resetting something. I'll look into it and dig around, but as strange as it is I'm getting the feeling it may be on your computer's end.

If anyone else is reading this and having similar problems, let me know. As I said, this is the first I've heard of it. (Others are definitely getting further in the game, as I've seen enough complaints about level 6 to testify to that! Level 6 is now easier, by the way, for anyone who was tweaked by that.)

"Nice & Tough"

The game was as good as tough from the stage 5 and above....
But, done a good job.
Keep it up..

VictorGrunn responds:

Thanks much, appreciated!
