Reviews for "Gather The Clans"

FINALLY! Been waiting to hear your submission. Jesus dude, your chord progression and melodies have got to be the most unique that I have ever come across. This sounds like a soundtrack that you would hear from one of the trailers to be played for an anticipated game during E3. It just takes you away on an adventure of your own. Amazing job and good luck to you in the competition! I definitely look forward to you progressing to the next round.

LunyAlex responds:

These compliments are gonna go to my head real bad', haha.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm very glad that you mentioned the E3 Trailer Idea, because that's precisely the format I envision the track in. Thank you again and good luck to you as well!

This is such a fun piece. From the start, the strings, percussion, and harmonic progression are all top notch. Love it. The more I listen, the more I can appreciate the detail in this. I can’t dissect this piece as much as I would like as I’m at work, but I would like to suggest that if the opportunity comes, think about the overall structure of the piece to where it is going or what you’re trying to say in a piece. This is such a good, action-paced piece that I really don’t know where it’s going to lead to just like in a typical action scene from a movie. But that’s more from wondering what you can do in regards to with what you have already done here and making it into a "classical" style approach.

[Sorry for the late reply; I've been allover the place lately]

Thank you so much for your review! I totally get what you mean, and starting to write in a more listen-friendly structure, rather than in an imaginary-scene-driven context is definitely on my "Things to get better at" list.

Thanks again!

This is HUGE, your chords are terrific. :) I love your lush soundsets and dynamics. The piano riff at the end is superb, I gotta say 5/5 GORGEOUS

LunyAlex responds:

Thanks a lot man! Means a lot!

Great piece - nice intimate string sound which reminded me a lot of the style of the hobbit movies. Also the piano insertion was entertaining - even i would recommend to use different velocities for the single notes - it just sounds more natural. This piece somehow has a quite personal spirit and creates a nice overall soundscape which has got some really interesting situations - especially 1:43 which sounded quite foreign and special - is this a dulcimer btw?

I am not a big fan of the long cello spiccato parts but the great rise in feel beginning 2:10 was really strong and hooked me instantly. I cant exactly say what it is what makes this piece so catchy - it has got a very unique touch in my opinion and you are creating a really awesome and interesting general mood here all over the piece.

Long story short: I like it ;D

LunyAlex responds:

Thanks a lot for the review!

1:43 is the combination of a piano and a cimbalom. Namely The Giant + Spitfire Grand Cimbalom. I love the way they interact with each other.

Definitely have taken note of the long cello spiccatos.

Thank you for the feedback and kind words!

Strangely after 1:43 it remind me of The Lone Ranger a lot. It really has this almost western feel coupled with sci-fi. Not sure why. You were probably going for something else, but that's what I see. The mix is superb, everything sounds so clear but then again that's Spitfire and La Strings for you, amongst other high quality sample libraries.

Thanks for the kind words. Sorry I didn't reply back then. Life kinda got in the way of things.
