[Gimmick]

Not bad

It's a good flash, but there were a few glitches that just brought it down in my opinion. I know your motive was to make people donate blood, but I won't be heading out to, because I'm scared of needles...but on topic, why this for Halloween? What's it got to do, apart from Dracula?

The graphics: Basic. The text in the beginning is italicized and just plain annoying. The text later on is better, but the font's too...basic. The images look as if they're ripped from the Google Image search...the background's not too good either. The UI is basic, and not very neat, I must say...

The animation: I don't think there's any animation at all. It's just a quiz, and for the bare animation there is, it's either a) too fast or b) too slow. I'm talking about the animations as you progress levels, and the end animation, all of which are just...hurried.

The music: Bad choice of music. I think it'd be better if you had peaceful music even in the increasing levels, so that the viewer could actually concentrate a bit. It doesn't help that every time you fail at level 3, you go back to level 3 and the level 3 music starts again, thereby duplicating the copy. So, say you lost twice at level 3, there'd be three copies in total.

The gameplay: It's just a simple quiz. You click and you get information. You pass if you get it correct, you go back to the beginning if you lose. That's what I hate -- having to replay it all over again. Thankfully, there were checkpoints. Yet this system isn't foolproof, but hurried -- there's no option to disable people from clicking "Play" from the context menu and just skipping things, and there's nothing to prevent people from searching on the internet. Perhaps you could've had an anti-cheat system and a timer?

All in all, an okay piece, although I think that this is thoroughly flawed. Please attempt it again, and fix the bugs!

I like the fonts and I wouldn't change them. The images were taken (and credited) from Goodle images etc. I don't see why that is a problem. They were intended to show that Blood Donation is an international thing etc. and they do so. Since you have not told me which animations are too fast and which too slow I can't really respond. Like most quizzes, the animation is only intended to be a decoration etc. I can't see why you say "if any" animation and that you don't think there is any- when you criticise the animation you have seen.

Whilst some of our quizzes do incorporate anti--cheating I don't think it is important- if people want to cheat they will find a wayand its their choice to do so. If people were prepared to look up the answers, that would be fine by me- as they explored the pages, they would learn more!
I might do somehting with some backgrounds, but it would generally look too cluttered with the art, photos and animation if I put much in the background.

Sorry about the glitch- thanks for pinpointing it for me - we can definately fix that.

The effort y'all have put into reviewing does inspire me to improve the quiz.

You gotta fix this fear of needles- just go do it, these people are experts and they will leave you with less fear of needles!

Good, but some issues

I think that this is a well thought through piece, though I'm not sure about why you would theme this around Halloween, since the stuff that you would focus on for that would be vampires, which isn't going to help anyone with wanting to give blood, surely?

The programming was decent and so was the message, though I won't be rushing out to give blood. It's not that I don't approve, I just have a really awful thing about needles, so nice try.

A good set of questions and a well balanced set of breaks, to avoid having to restart the entire quiz from the start. Between the sets, there was one part where the witch on the broomstick flew past and the animation jumped back a few frames, before progressing to the next part of the quiz. I found this strange. Also, on one of the sets, I got a later question in the set wrong and had to restart the segment - the music started again, over the top of the currently playing track. This was probably the worst niggle in the game possible, so that desperately needs working on.

On top of that, I thought I got the penultimate question wrong and still got sent through to the final question that warns you about dropping back to question 10. I assume that it was the end of the quiz, but never made the step, to check.

Thank you. The reasons for giving it a halloween theme were as follows:
1. We were hoping to get in the H 2011 collection
2. We thought it would be fun to make it look like a horror submission with the title "I want your blood"
3. I wanted to re-use the funky buttons
4. I thought the theme would be a bit more lively than just blood donation
5. We were aiming for submission at that time

I had an awful thing about needles- I fainted at a blood test- pervesely that is part of the reason why I did it- I don't have that thing any more. There are no excuses- just do it!

the witch thing is annoying, I can't see why she does that, it should be a simple tween- I will redo it yet a gain and try to fix it.

I will test my way through the music again.

There are no right answers to the penultimate question!

Why didn't you? How daft- you missed a big chunk!

Good Message and All

But I got to say, quizzes were never my thing. It probably would have been more interesting with another game tacked into it. A blood filled horror thing?

But yes, the quiz here, as said, is a good message. I can't really review a quiz so well. It's a quiz. However, it probably would have been better if, anytime you got a question wrong, it sent you to the question you got wrong and not the beginning. But all the information is nice.

Not your thing? Fair enough, each to their own. If you don't like quizzes then I see why you would hope for another game too.

Back to the beginning? I guess you didn't get far then, it only goes back to the beginning for the first 5/21 questions. I understand that some people find it irritating to go back to the beginning of each level, but that is what levels are for, just as in other computer games- so you feel a significant loss when you get one wrong, then a significant feeling of success when you get the next layer.

I have to say I am a little dissappointed that anyone would give this a 3/10- for a submission that is this complex and substantial, even if you don't like quizzes.
3/10 = 1.5/5 - a Blam score- is it that bad? Its got art, animation, pictures, music....No?

Freaking sweet...

Great infomative game. I enjoyed getting them wrong cause of the info that was provided. I donate every chance I get. Hell if it was not for me donating all the time I would have never found out my true blood type. I was in the military for 8 yrs and the whole time they said I had A+. One of the times I was giving at the Red Cross the nurse said she was glad I was giving cause my blood could help a whole range of people and when I asked her if A+ was the one who could give to all, she said no and that was when she told me I was O-. I told her what the military had told me so she took a sample and sent it off to be tested and it came back O-. Shit I was glad nothing happened to me in Afghanistan where I needed any blood cause my dog tags were stamped A+. Its cool I can give to everybody the only bad thing is that I can only get O- oh well to bad everybody cant be lucky like AB+ huh lol. Oh btw ya got 5/10 from me.

Great! It is so nice to get though to somewho understands and is interested. We put a lot of effort into all the answers, including all the wrong answers, exactly so that people will find interest all the way through even if they get things wrong. Our reviewers consistantly tell us that it is an important part of what makes our quizzes stand out.

The rest of the info you gave, although it is not really a review, does remind us all that giving blood will tell you what type you are by experts- and they give your blood a health check too, which can't be a bad thing!

It's educational enough, and interactive enough to keep our attention. A good time and theme put into it as well. Props to the effort.
