Reviews for "Superfighters"

fucking amazing

It's like chaos faction just more epic

Really good!

It was chaotic, and retro and just fun. A great mix of platformer, beat em' up and fighting genres.

Liked: The whole retro theme of the game, you even restricted the colours you used to give it an 80s feeling. But at the same time you added a kind of "fairness" that you didn't get with those kind of games. The levels were great, liked how attacking various objects could cause them to explode, fall down etc.

Disliked: The lack of music in-game, this really put me off, some 8-bit music, maybe a different song for every level would have caused me to enjoy the game a whole lot more. The lack of versatility among characters, they were all the same, but recoloured, which also put me off.
Both these issues suggest laziness to me, I'm sure you worked very hard on the game, but not everyone is as understanding as me. It just seems rushed.

To Improve: It felt like more of a mini-game than an actual game, try adding a story mode, unlockable characters and stages, it's the little things that make a game a game.

Don't get put off my the large dislike paragraph, they're tiny problems that were hard to explain. I actually really enjoyed playing this game, I'll be waiting for a Superfighters 2!

amazing

simply awesome! it does take some time to adjust to the new control and gameplay system but its worth it. also the warehouse map has to many fire barrels

Chaos isn't guarenteed fun

It's chaotic sure, but a fun game doesn't require blind luck. If I wanted a game like that I'd just flip coins, since no input I provide effects the outcome. Dying just feels cheap, which again does not equal fun, getting on fire is instant death, and the second attempt he had one health and a rocket launcher spawned on him and he killed me in one hit. At that point I stopped trying and the enemy killed himself. Also, everything blendsinto the backround and is hard to quickly dinstinguished everything, which is essential for such a fast paced game. Not to mention the controls are awful. A seperate key for going into aim mode would help so I don't suddenly stop aiming after I shoot, or better yet mouse aiming. The original key placements are also bad since they put my hand on the opposite side of where is comfortable. I'm not taking points for that though since the controls are custimizable There are better ways to increase chaos without bad controls and a constant stream of luck based missions. I suggest looking at Chaos Faction for examples.

JohanHjarpe responds:

Sorry it wasn't to your taste. While it's true that luck plays a big part, your input is infinitely more important. You can assure victory, but it takes practice. And if you fail, you can always try again right away - it's not unforgiving like some of the oldschool games were. And fire is not instant death, as one of the tips says.

Utterly Fantastic.

The only reason I'm giving this a nine out of ten is because stage mode is retarded hard for just a skin. Other than that, the vs. mode is retarded fun. I can't stop playing this. All my 5 R belong to this.
