Reviews for "Forest Of Desolation"

What a wonderful piece of music! To me it has a very relaxing effect. I listen to the mixing with envy, because each instrument seems to find it's rightful place and everything is in perfect balance. It's something I struggle with so I really have to compliment on a job well done!

Mattashi responds:

Thanks Thonz! And I know what you mean I also struggle allot with mixing and still have allot to learn.

This is very awesome.

I love the celtic flute.

It fits very well with the rest of the track.

The guitar was a nice touch.

The vocals are what really got me though.

Did you record them or sample them from a library?

Excellent work man!

5/5 10/10

Mattashi responds:

Thanks man!
The guitar is the only thing I played and recorded.
The flutes and most of the percusions are from Forest Kingdom 2 by Eduardo Tarilonte oh and the vocal is from Shevannai :)

Wow!!! just wow. The mix is great, the composition is great and it really captures the atmosphere of the picture. those vocals add a really nice touch to the piece.

good work son!

Really nice job. The sounds are all beautiful, I want those libraries :-) Celtic music is the best music! I felt like the melodies could have been a little stronger (they never came out and grabbed me) but at this point I'm doing extreme nit-picking. The mixing is perfect, the whispered vocals add a good sense of mystery and the instruments are just great (I already said that).

This song would be perfect in a video game since it's beautiful and stays out of the way.

Mattashi responds:

Thank you Johnfn :)

I was already astonished by the artwork of reference and I took five good minutes to "get back to the real world" and prepare my mindset for this piece which, in my opinion, is equally beautiful or at least able to compete with it.

Mastering sounds professional and it reminded me of Assassin's Creed II at some points, might have been the vocals used or the relatively acoustic sound. Celtic music always manages to sound awespiring to me and this piece makes absolutely no exception.

I would have made the melodies a little more intense and present in the mix while possibly introducing a theme variation by the time the main theme is repeated for about the third or fourth time. You've played around repetition by varying the instrumentation and playing with the beautifully executed atmosphere. Again, it's a minor discrepancy that doesn't really detract from the experience at all, mere nitpicking if you wish, and it doesn't drift away from the fact that it's a near-masterpiece able to compete with film score and what the industry offers.

Superb job

Thank you so much ForgottenDawn :)
