I had the same issue. I pressed play and all i got was a less than a second sound clip and a frozen picture.
I fixed it by right clicking and selecting play. Try that.

Poor performance indeed.

im guessing from the reviews its decent but i wouldn't know as it wont work.
For those getting stuck
Once it loads and you click play, if it freezes, click somewhere further ahead in the timeline bar, then click back towards the beginning and it will work.
