Reviews for "Haunt the House"

Not bad

The game is simplistic, the controls are decent. My only complaint is the way scares are detected. It seems that detection is based purely on visuals, since it is possible under certain circumstances to have one person standing directly in front of a scare and not notice it because they are facing the other way. Perhaps noise could come into the equation?

Also, a relatively easy way to scare multiple partiers out is to build up the 'scare meter' until it is high enough for you to use the second scare effect of the mirror above the fireplace (the lightningbolt effect), which has high enough scare value for its speed to scare anyone out of the house if you spam the down or up buttons when they enter the room. I've got an average of twenty people out with that tactic alone.

cute fun

Lot's of fun. it begs players to experiment with following specific guests around the house to scare them successively at each turn. Just working in one room on anyone who comes in only has cosmetic effects. Game really shines if you focus on specific guests at a time. Many of the possession animation ideas were great, the sound effects that followed were equally impressive (the polar bear in particular).

Fun game with great art.

This game is fun to play and has a very nice art style. I have officially seen every object and ability in the game, and many of them are very nice. I love the design of the ghost you control, scaring people out of the house, and how it coats its likeness over anything it possesses. The ghost really is just adorable, especially the sound it makes when you try to possess something that isn't there. I wish it had a name. I think it needs a name.

The gameplay is pretty simple and straightforward. You possess objects and freak people out with them, getting them to leave if you scare them enough. Or, they can kill themselves, which seems to be discouraged by the game. This is probably more fun in earlier on, where there are tons of people waiting to be chased out. Unfortunately, I find myself getting bored in the very late stages when there are only a couple people left. This really isn't much of a problem, as this stage only makes up a small portion of the time you're playing it.

Like many others, I would love to see a sequel to this. I honestly think the game is too small. Multiple levels would be great. I would like each level being a different house with a unique, challenging layout. The game is still pretty fun, but I think that it does have the potential to be much larger.

One of my favorite games year round. The cute little art style plus the creepiness makes this game so charming.

A classic, and it makes sense why.
