good work. great sound, and yes, when it comes to being able to convey emotion with melodies, i would say that it is best acquired naturally.

This would be amazing for a game intro. That's the first thing that came to mind. A game intro with an emotional intro about a character or characters. This song would be perfect for that.

The orchestration is pretty great too, the textures in here pass off the 'icy' feeling perfectly.
I like everything about this. My favorite part is the harp work from 0:27 to 0:52. The careful timing and variation in each pluck adds a strong "real" element to the piece.
