Reviews for "Sticky Blocks"

my eyes hurt

took about two hours but i got through it. very challenging. certain stages would just drive you crazy, especially when you make a single mistake and have to start over. the music loop grew a little annoying at times, but it didn't take away from the game itself.

still haven't found that second secret medal...

amaupin responds:

Well done!

Hint: the two secret medals are somewhat opposites of one another...

Good play :)

I only have one complaint, and it's just when the area of the box is the same size as the screen or smaller, I think it should just stay there, instead of the view shifting when the box moves into a corner.
In the bigger areas, it makes sense, otherwise it's really irritating on the eyes.
But that's really just personal bitching.
Otherwise I really enjoy this.
Hope to see more from you!

amaupin responds:

Agree completely, to be honest. I never was happy with the way the screen scrolls. In the beginning of development it always stayed centered on the purple block, but as I started making levels I quickly realized that wouldn't work and some levels would be impossible if you couldn't see all your blocks when they extended offscreen. Never thought of making scrolling behave differently based on the size of the player's clump of blocks. Good idea!

Thanks for the review!

Nothing REALLY New

Clever, in a way. Somewhat original, but I've still played dozens of games like this: a puzzle game that starts off with simple rules. At first, it stays fresh by way of clever use of the initial rules. And then, when the cleverness runs out, the author(s) employ gimmicks, i.e. block grabbers, gravity changers, teleporters, blah blah blah blah blah. If you want to stay original, DON'T EMPLOY GIMMICKS.

amaupin responds:

edit: I think you must be talking about a different game. Or you didn't play very much of Sticky Blocks at all, which based on the fact that you didn't even get one of the easy medals (given out on level 3) seems likely...

In the entire game of Sticky Blocks, only 2 (YES, TWO!) new elements (or gimmicks, as you call them) are introduced. Besides those two (grabbers and moving blocks) every - and I mean EVERY - other level and puzzle is an application of the same rules (colored blocks and their corresponding locks) as seen in level 1.

P.S. No gravity changers (not even any gravity in this game), no teleporters.

Eh...

It's a decent game. I got to Level 22 - Clogged and messed up. I didn't feel like doing the tedious first part with the blue blocks again so I quit. Considering how slow the block moves, you really should avoid putting simple and tedious parts into the levels.

Most of the levels were good though.

amaupin responds:

I hear you. It is a slow-paced, think-ahead type of game but still it's annoying to have to restart a level after one tiny mistake near the end. Actually it's a good thing you didn't make it to level 37...

Puzzle Games...

Normally i don't like puzzle games, but this game was so addicting and fun, that i couldn't stop playing it, at one level i got stuck, tried 20 minutes, and quit, but it's an very awesome game, keep up the work, hope to see more of your work soon ^^

Thank you!
