Reviews for "Wrath of Anubis 2"

um...cant play

sounds like fun but i upraded my flash an such an now i just run one way or another in all games sorry i would review but must figure out how to fix this first

Fabulous

~Graphics~
I absolutely love the graphic style of this game; when looking at the graphics I can't help but see that they are gorgeous. They definitely represent something that would be on the NES/SNES. Not only are they beautiful and retro, but they fit the style of the game perfectly. If this game had top-notch graphics that wowed players it just wouldn't feel right in this tough, 2D platformer. 10/10

~Story/Gameplay/Controls~
Alright, even though there isn't exactly a story to this game I'll discuss the basis of the pllot of the game. The whole idea of you being a "tomb raider" definitely helps to bring a lot of things into the game that would otherwise have been preposterous and cause players to question these things while frustrated. Even the whole water killing you makes sense because it could be acidic water :P. Ah, the gameplay, the whole core of the game and this review. This game has a magnificent gameplay style. While not much has changed from the previous installment, not much needed altering. Its just as beautiful, just as fun, and of course, just as hard. However, one thing I do think should be in a possible third game are super challenge levels. While this game did give me trouble I found that the only real hard part was getting all the treasure; during my speedrun I somewhat-easily completed the game, while getting all the treasure (my first time-through as well) took around a total of 4-7 hours. I hope you consider my idea for challenge levels :P. The level editor was a nice feature that calls for creativness. I am still working on my level and I hope it comes out to be quite a challenge ^_^ (Maybe have a "Wrath of Anubis: Player Pack"?). I have yet to try the bonus levels, but directly after finishing this review I will definitely be going into them (I'm disapointed in myself for doing this review before doing EVERYTHING, but I did say I would do it after getting the speed run medal). The secret areas were also nice and were well-hidden in my opinion. Now on to the controls; I loved the fact that you could customize your controls as I always prefer to have a different set-up depending on games (Its usually not the default). I will be out-front and say I used the second pre-set though, because it was pretty much exactly what I wanted. Also, *I* NEVER had a problem with the wall-jumping in the game. 10/10

~Audio~
The music in this game is fantastic and fits in perfectly with the theme of the game. The sounds that happened when you got coins, killed enemies, died, and pressed switches also were fitting and didn't hurt the ears. This is one of the very few games that I have actually played without muting the sound, so props to you on your excellent music choices. 10/10

~Overall~
There's not much else to say that won't be in the extra section, and I better hurry with my 1k characters remaining! This game has magnificent graphics, excellent gameplay, beautiful audio, and its definitely worth your time, and remember hard games are good, just because a game doesn't hold your hand and be the easiest thing ever (like most games today) doesn't mean its bad. 10/10

~Extra~
The speedrun medal is far too easy, and like you said you might do in the description, it should be changed. Without beating level 13 quickly I got an amazing time of 17:37; afterwards: 9:00. Definitely lower it to around the 10 minute mark, because its way to easy to get at this point in time; also looking forward to a possible "collect all idols" medal. Also, the complete game medal just requires you to have 19 idols (can get the secret area idol) to get the medal. Anywho, keep up the great work Canadian-Jeff; also I'm still awaiting a response to my PM :P. Man, this might as well be the "Medal" section >_>.

I hope you take everything I have said into consideration, also please ignore any mistakes I may have made in this review. Looking forward to the next Wrath of Anubis game as well as any other games you put out, until then, farewell..

~At the end of this review I have 0 characters remaining (longest review; yaaay!)~

Canadian-Jeff responds:

Cheers.

I don't know about game 3 though. I don't know how much more I can get out of this game.

If you send me your level, I'll publish it on my site or something.

If you made a set of levels, I would probably give you a swf that you could upload to ng....

Yep, quite hard

I liked the graphics and the sounds were good and all, but the main flaw with this is that it is so freaking hard. One blast from anything kills you. Not to mention killing the mummies is entirely pointless as they immediately respawn sometimes right where you killed them. The wall jumping was hard too. I am of course complaining too much and should praise this game for its original design and things like that. It defintley had the feeling and atmosphere of a classic Indiana Jones scenario and overall creative.

great

you deserved this 8 but why not a 10? Let me explain: You can't retsart the level. and the levels some levels are too hard.

Canadian-Jeff responds:

You must be thinking of something else, but R will restart the current level.

...

Haha, effing ACE!

Difficult but great concept - I'd love to see a post-apoc-themed one.
