Reviews for "Pokemon Gold: Soundboard"

Great Nice.

Yeah, perfect soundtrack.

Nice tunes, but needs improvement.

A break from the traditional soundboard, as this one allows you to select different songs that play in location-specific areas of the game. This is truly the innovation and outside-the-box thinking that allows Newgrounds to be such a great and refreshing place to visit. It definitely shows in the crafting of this soundboard that some serious effort and hard work came into play in its production. These tunes are enjoyable and are the highlight of this "soundboard", making sure the user is thoroughly entertained throughout the experience.

Still, that does not excuse this game's overall mediocrity. One of the biggest issues this Flash has is that of it's format - it's a soundboard. Another thing that needs improvement is the graphics, as they felt too small and lacking a background image make the whole thing look unfinished. If I hadn't read the description, I would have doubted the game worked at all - adding an in-game note would be useful.

Since you're making an update to this game, I suggest that you look over these issues and take some suggestions on how to improve it. One way that I would improve this Flash is to blow up the maps a bit larger and to add a background image. Another thing that could be done is to add a note that is attached to each button, so that people will remember what area of the game that tune is from (like hovering over a map icon will display its name). Adding more sounds is always welcome, though compressing them to a reasonable size and quality is definitely preferred.

First and foremost, I appreciate the accurate and critical review bro. One of my biggest goals right now is to improve my flash skill, I had the stroke of genius to use the game map for the sound quite a while ago so I took up tutorials to get it into action. About the hovering text, I spent hours and hours one day looking for help on how to do this, I tried to get it out in the second one but I didn't find the right help. I really do hate soundboards, I do, not because they are cheap attempts at flash, but because so many people just think its only putting a few buttons on a board that play a noise. I wanted to (try) to make a soundboard that had a sense that effort was put into it.

Also, I always have and always will listen to the suggestions of all of my fellow Newgrounders, its what the review system was made for, yes? On the topic of expanding the size of the sound map, the game is 16 bits and when the images get larger, the pixels really stand out and it makes the overall "look and feel" go downwards. Anyways, I've spent a good time with this response, I like the honest review bro and remember, Surf's Up!

good but missing some songs

what you need ot add is the rocket theme, gym/gym leader battle theme, elete four theme, and champion theme, oh and your rivils theme and battle music.

OpiumNinja responds:

I will be adding those in the second, I had some sound compression issues and they will be fixed in version 2.0

Nostalgia trip

Been a long time since Gold/Silver (10 years right?) Good music, but some of the samples seem... off. I think some of the places on your maps have wrong music playing. 5/5 for reviving the GameBoy Color for this brief, brief time.

OpiumNinja responds:

really? I made sure that all the sounds were as accurate as possible, the only one that should be off is the power plant because i still need to get that sound, do PM me though with issues on this, I need to improve it

Cool!

Despite a few missing songs this is a great soundboard! Hope the second one will put have them.

OpiumNinja responds:

PM me with some of the songs you would like in the second one, I will add them
