I could not find a viable build to defeat even the first boss. No matter what upgrades I use, getting clipped by even a fraction of a single laser salvo is enough to kill me.

The game does have good graphics and music, i will give it that.
But, as stated earlier, the game is really difficult, you do end up suiciding your ship, a lot. Anything I could recommend on this point has already been stated previously.
However, there is one bug that needs to be fixed. After repeating missions 1-2 times, you stop earning money for repeating missions. Period. This makes it nearly impossible for someone to get good enough upgrades to even take on the first boss. This will need to be fixed

Thanks for the review. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about that bug - you have to beat your previous score in order to earn the difference. Was that working?
Worth the effort A+
I loved your game! You did a really superb job. First of all, the game was actually difficult which made it more exciting. I liked how the shots had a narrow angle, it made me focus on aiming better. Once I got used to the shot line-up it was rewarding. The background was really good too, not too over done, not too lacking. Just perfect. The upgrade system didn't give too much advantage which kept me concentrated on playing better. Income system instills a replay value that is well worth it after the upgrades.
I found the last boss the hardest. Took me the most tries. This is good because you followed up on the boss difficulty.
Overall this was a very well balanced space shooter game with attention to detail. I hope you will make a follow up version with more levels, customizable ships and more upgrades.

An amazing game, well executed. I personally dont see how people find this game "impossible", i beat the game without ever upgrading the shields or hull.
In the end i have only two complaints / recommendations:
1) The last boss and the boss with the asteroid barriers seemed to take for ever to get their shield down.
2) A greater variety of weapons, the same blaster and missle got old after awhile.
Other than those two complaints / recommendations this is a very enjoyable game.
