Reviews for "The Fall of Heroic Dreams"

Great. I like how you make an orchestral piece and still use live instruments. I mean here on newgrounds orchestra equals samples, so this is kind of unique. It also gives this heroic feel.

Just wait until you hear my MAC 13 submission, it's all real instruments :3

It is BEAUTIFUL! :'(

This is great, but would you post a version without the vocals? I like to listen to instrumentals when I brainstorm.

Great listen... epic in every sense of the word. A few things:

-- The voice acting was well done but I don't dig them, especially when they came back in the middle of the song. Maybe I use separate parts of my brain to process music and speech so having to switch back and forth didn't feel quite natural.
-- The transitions were mostly well done. The only obvious improvement I can think of is at 3:50. Right after "should a hero show mercy", I think you can have some sort of "here it comes!!" sound effect (e.g. cymbal roll?) before you hit it again. Right now it feels a little abrupt.
-- Given the length of this, I feel that you can go more all out with the climax towards the end. That would make for a more complete listening experience, IMHO.

Good feedback. There's some back story to how these pieces come together, but there really isn't something to tie it all back at the end, which is something I'll be working on later. It's mostly 3 seperate sections that are about the same "story" or "concept" the spoken word was something not totally related to the original concept, but just something nice to tie the three together to fit well for the contest. I did want to mention to you that I debated the cymbal swell for "show mercy" part, and I felt that it being abrupt would be more dramatic as the cymbal swell kind of gave away what was going to happen. I sat on it for a while and eventually decided what I did was better. I am not much to ask for feedback before posting or finalizing a track, it's something I am working on. Anyways, thanks so much for your feedback. It's a very long listen for most people and I appreciate that you actually sat and listened to the whole thing. More stuff coming soon!

Dude, this is quality. I don't really care for the voice, the words are great though, could use more age, and less tensions, but the music is what really matters, and I love this intro. Some cliches with percussion. Sounds like an extremely good VGST, mostly because it has the feel of a theatrical trailer ST, constantly moving and full of dramatic lines. Instrumentation is flawless, the parts grow boring around 3:00, could do more with the music. That voice kills the feeling around 3:10... This gets really good though. Its truly amazing how you wove all of this together.
