Reviews for "The Love I'm Searching 4"

Fuck...

Honestly, no criticisms. I thought it was perfect.

Thus the ten star rating ;)

Skaijo responds:

Indeed? Thank you so much!

Brilliant!

Wow that was awesome, normally i don't like anything with tweens in it, but youve done it so well and mixed it with fbf i just loved it! Great animation, wicked song, not sure i totally got the story, but i still really enjoyed it! 10/10 5/5

Skaijo responds:

My goal is to use all the different kinds of animation styles all at the same time fluently and cohesively. I think that's the best way to grow in this kind of hobby.

much smoother

I love unmei! And most of your animation was much smoother, however there's still a lot of room for improvement, but the jerky nature of integrating real life photos with animation makes most flaws unnoticeable. Very nice work, keep it coming!

I wanted to give you criticism

But first, here's a virtual 10 =D

I don't know why I felt compelled to write you a review, but here goes:

pros: very good song choice, fluid animation, very nice backgrounds, good coloring, etc. Also, good clothing designs. Not original, but they looked good.

where you can improve: 1) characterization. I realize that all the people in your world have "white hair", but really, they all look the same. The only way to tell them apart from each other is the hair style, clothes/accessories they adorn their otherwise identical body templates. I know its a style, but it just isn't effective. It confuses the watcher the first time through. I didn't realize those four or three people that made the "=3= "expressions were supposed to be a particular group of friends your story was focusing on. The "=3=" code thing was a good touch, but it isn't clear to everyone what exactly they are doing... i was wtf at first. haha.

2) movement and anatomy. The animation was fluid, but your lack in experience shows due to the awkward movements of your characters. For example, I didn't realize your main character was trying to be a conductor until i read your comments after the flash movie. I think it was mainly due to the fact that she DIDN't look like she was conducting. Her hand gestures and the way she held the imaginary baton did not look like she was conducting... just flapping in the air up and down. Maybe you could have enhanced the realism of it by studying how maestros conduct in real life? It definitely would have improved the overall quality of the movie, in my opinion, since the central theme revolves around her ambition.

3) facial expressions. they can be more defined, rather than the easy japanese anime style you tried to emulate or naturally implemented. example: the guy in the bathroom being embarassed? That was weak because well, he didnt look embarassed. So your humor inserts didn't work very well because not a lot of people will be able to understand what emotion you are trying to convey because of the vague and esoteric facial expression style you chose to use.

4) voice acting. that part where the main character dreams trying to get past the warning tape, she grunts and stuff. I personally found that awkward and it would have been better to just not have that audio in there. the rest of the movie was pretty much silent, so why did she have to make noticeable sounds at that particular point when all it did was make the scene awkward? o_O (especially the "aaah!" when she wakes up)

Otherwise, good job! I really hope my comments help. They arent meant to deride or criticize you at all. I also hope that you keep improving and eventually develop an original style of your own (: good luck!

Skaijo responds:

1. I'll work on making distinguishing characters. That seems to be the biggest issue at this point and may be the funnest aspect of my work to improve on.

2. Fluid movement is always an issue as an animator and will be something to improve on as I continue. It's the common denominator of all animation.

3. I'll admit I've got an anime style. I'm Korean. Grew up in Korea. Even the weather on TV has animated faces that squiggle into unrecognizable shapes based on the temperature alone. I'm affected.

4. So I threw in the voice acting because I'm not very good at mixing audio (see Professor Layton series), and I wanted this animation to be another attempt at it. And by mixing I mean, the music track, the audio track, and the voice file track all perfectly balanced with each other and timed perfectly with the animation. I've yet to hear any complaints about the quality of the audio yet--so I hopefully improved since I early days of mixing back when I made Pick Up Act 2. It may seem a bit random, but the whole work is an attempt for me to get better as an animator (which also includes sound mixing) so I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Love it!

Wish I knew a gril like that. She seems pretty fucking awsome. Two thumbs up. Very pro.
