Reviews for "The Sculpture"

Watched it two times, ready to watch it for a 3rd

I really don't know why, but this idea is brilliant! A monster like this is somehow really unique and special. Its hard not to like it! I say kudo's dear friend. I rarely review at all. so feel blessed, because this submission is f**king sweet

PBass responds:

Haha, thanks a million! I'm really glad you liked it! The idea from the monster came from the SCP-173 article on http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com. They've got a bunch of these articles, so check it out! Thanks for the review!

Very well done

A well devised piece, reminiscent of an episode of Dr. Who "Don't Blink", where statues of angels would close in on people and kill them gruesomely. It's a great concept and I wish that you'd take it further - someone opens the door, looks around and says "Where is it?", at which point, they die and this thing goes on a rampage.

The style of the 1980s Saturday morning cartoon is prevalent here, giving us a nice looking piece that looks nice and retro. I think that this could be modernised slightly, without making it look too out of place - the colours you've used are quite pastel and matt finished. If you were to give them more of a gloss overtone, you'd make it look more like a modern cartoon.

Great suspense and a great start - keep up the good work :)

PBass responds:

The idea came from http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com, in the article about SCP-173. Since I'm trying to keep it cannon, I don't have as much free range storywise, although there are some articles I plan on animating later that will allow me to go much further.
I'm glad you noticed my color choices! I had put them in to add more of a gloomy feel to it, as the bright colors really distracted from the creepiness. I was planning on making it all sepia tone, but I decided that was a bit too much.
Thanks for the review!

Creepy

Gotta know something that fast is just plain designed to be a killer. Wasn't there a Doctor Who episode with something similar to this thing, though?

PBass responds:

Yes, there was a Dr.Who episode called Don't Blink, with angel statues. I had never seen it before, but right after submitting this, it was on television! How's that for a creepy coincidence? Thanks for the review!

Wow

You should seriously consider continuing with this SCP idea. It's got huge potential to become a huge successful series of yours, combined with your animation talent. I was intrigued to the point that I looked up SCP's and looked at several. Crazy stuff.

PBass responds:

Yeah I've got a few ideas for more SCP animations and maybe an SCP game down the road. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the review!

Hey, wait

Nice nice nice one.
First I didn't really understand it, but after reading some reviews, it's all clear.
But what if you film it? Without directly looking at it? Can you see it actually moving as you check the film later on?
Let's say it like this: As you show it to a six year old, he doesn't want to shut his eyes anymore all the time. XD

PBass responds:

Thanks for the review! The official SCP-173 article isn't clear on the effects of video recording. However, in my animation I had it moving while on security camera, as I didn't think it constituted as being under 'direct line of sight'.
