Really not that awesome
The concept of the game seemed kinda cool at first. To me, it looked like a nice opportunity to lengthen the part I liked from the video: that is to dodge blocks in a speedy and dynamic way.
Unfortunately, I had to stop playing after ten seconds. But I tried once again, and here's the things that should be fixed:
The Controls: are awkward like I wouldn't believe it. You really feel, while playing this game, that you're walking on ice. Most often, when you just try to jump over to a new row of blocks, you end up out of the level and have to make a quick recovery. In fact, I personally spent more than half of my time making recoveries instead of actually dodging blocks.
The Flip&Roll: When you understand that jumping will most often lead you into the pit, you go for the other way of climbing: The Flip&Roll. Unfortunately, there are times when it bugs and doesn't work. But when it does so, you never have enough time to make the jump that would save your life, and you end up being squished.
The Width: The area is way too narrow. It's understandable that the creators of this game made it so that it would look like the tower scene from the first animation, but it wasn't nearly as enjoyable (and that's to say a lot).
The Bugs: This is an issue that has been discussed by many other reviewers before me, but I hadto adress it. Not only does the Flip&Roll not work once in a while, but it may also happen for you to get stuck while wall-jumping or to get squished by a block that didn't even touch you. It's really hard to play a game when you cannot be sure how it will behave.
The Music: I know this techno remix of the Tetris song really fits the game, but I can't imagine myself playing this game for even five minutes straight without going batf- crazy.
Despite the fact that it looks like a hastily made beta (like others have said before me), it still gets a 4/10 because it still remains a dynamic game in its essence and the idea is really interesting. Maybe add a few levels? Make a campain mode? Solve the problems that this game has, and I'm sure it would made a very enjoyable file.
