Reviews for "DMT:How to read music/tab"

Not bad!

It certainly is pretty interesting to know that Flash is being used for great works such as this one. I'm no music expert but I believe you managed to cover a good amount of material. It went to the point, and explained in good detail while still keeping it simple so it wasn't confusing at all. It was very appealing visually and the illustrations helped in getting the message through.

However, there were some bugs in the flash. The menu wasn't working properly. I clicked for the tab tutorial and all I got was a blank screen. The Back button also had some problems as well as the audio. The music kept playing over itself.

Overall, it was a good tutorial. I'm planning on learning to play the guitar pretty soon, and this really caught my attention. If anything, I would just like you to expand the tutorial so it covers more basics, specially for the tab part! Good luck on your future projects.

Thanks for the bug update! I had tested it, but I must have overlooked it. I'll fix this ASAP. I still am kinda new to flash (even with a brainbench certification in it) so I apologize ^^;

I think I will make a more in depth tab flash movie, so stay tuned!

Thanks for the bug report ;-)

It was decent,

Tutorials get an automatic pass because they teach people things, however, there is so much room for improvement and functionality. Having a keyboard and notes to play, a hands on tutourial beats up a text.

People don't like to read, they like to play. Keep it in mind for next time and I and everyone else who needs hands on learning will thank you.

Still gold, 5/5

Darkmaster603 responds:

Thanks. I promise, the next one will be better. I didn't spend nearly as much time as I wanted to on this, but the next one has a lot more functionality.

Thanks for the suggestions and review!

cool.

Thanks for the info on Tab. I play guitar, and learned piano as a kid, but always wondered what tab was for. I didn't go through the whole thing, but noticed you misspelled "consecutive" in the early pages of the learning sheet music part. Thanks for helping all the guitar heroes out there take it to the real world.

Oh, your logo at the front end is a little slooooooooooow. Read it. Got it. Thanks. Maybe just put it on your menu screen.

Darkmaster603 responds:

OH jeez, thanks for telling me about the typo!

I made the logo a bit more interesting, and to me it seems like to goes by a lot faster. But I think I'll add a skip button.

Thanks for the review and report!

Good for beginner

Well i guess its good to help somebody who doesn't know how to read music buts it merely covered the reading of sheet music , the whole point of sheet music (compare to tabs) is that you can calculate time easily and accuratly.

I know it's intendend for beginner only but you could add little more information to get started such as the explanation of common time (4/4) the difference between note (round, white, black etc..) tempo , strength (fortissimo to pianissimo) its doesn't require much knowledge and it would be a great addition for all the beginner out there.

that was my constructive criticism!!

im a musician and just love to help people starting off for music is my biggest passion! also i would not of mind helping you creating a more complex tutorial but unfortunatly i learn music using my native tongue (french im not from france though ! ) so its fuck up so many differences in the terms and my english suck

Do ré mi fa sol la si do :P

Darkmaster603 responds:

I would love some help on some more advanced subjects, maybe I'll pm you and we can collab ;D

Thanks for the review and criticism!

I have to disagree...

Just because it is not proper/common to use F-flat, E-sharp, C-flat, or B-sharp, does not change the fact that a flat is a half-step down and a sharp is a half-step up. Instead of saying they don't exist, try explaining that E & F and B & C are a half step apart. Other than that, it was pretty good. Keep up the good work. :)

I guess I need to fix that lol. I didn't want to confuse anyone, but I guess I'm getting the most criticism on that.
