I think it's more challenging that you only have 5 moves in a turn. So you have to choose, move high lvl armies more to the front or taking over enemies?
You nee the right balance to win.
Ow and i have got a tip to beat hard:
Be an asshole! Make a pact with two enemies kill the third and then just hope that one of the two allied players have killed the other. Adn then finish them of!
I know, it isn't very social, but who cares?

For those who are having difficulty winning try this: start by killing the civ right above/below you. after that, form a non-aggression pact with the stronger looking of the last 2. then just build up a bunch of 99 troops while the last two weaken each other. then just roll over the last one with your tanks.
I play this game almost every chance i get! Very fun!
I usually dominate, but for some reason, i believe playing on hard difficulty is easier than on normal. On normal, they all only go for me and ignore eachother, but when im on hard, they attack eachother.
Great game, love to just surround them in the end, and take them all on the same round!
some maps are harder than others. it really depends on how good you are at picking which capitol you start with, and both when and which kingdom you have a no violence treaty with. Hint: don't betray your ally, just build up a powerful border then let them betray you.
Incredibly simple little strategy game. Has provided hundreds of hours of fun
