Very good game
One of the main reasons why I liked this better than risk is because very little luck is involved i.e. no dice - the stronger army wins. It makes the game more strategic like chess rather than say monopoly (where there's stratergy and luck involved).
I liked the special features like sign a pack and make a speech and I liked it out how your enemy would betray you (often at strategic moments).
The graphics are pretty good and pretty fluid and the game had a nice feel to it... with the little comments.
The only major problems I had with it is that a lot of the strategy (especially on hard) was where you place yourself. If you chose the worse position on some maps there is no way you could beat the enemy and if you chose a good spot there's little chance of you losing once you've got to grips with the game. So in a lot of occasions I felt the outcome was predetermined from the outset. Perhaps giving the player more starting troops if there's no towns in his immediate vicinity could be a way to get past this. It's not really a huge problem though.
The AI was generally quite smart, however I felt sometimes they were a little lax in defending the capital (and especially their starting capital). Making it quite easy to slip a couple of tanks past their troops and killing them all. Sometimes the AI struggled to push through your forces even when they had the weight of numbers.
All in all a great game.
