Reminds me very much of Megaman X (4 and onwards on psx) style here. Excellent job!
I wouldn't change anyhting but if I really have to mention something that my ear picked up was the slow parts 0:39-0:52. Personally I would have added a muted guitar or similar sound to the background to keep the tension up. But that's just my opinion based on your own comment how this was supposed to be used on a shooter game :)

Nostalgic moment to the Megaman platformer genre, a calm introduction leading to the feel of a chase, a very well executed chorus beat, well placed melody, a well introduced electric ambience from the synthesizer, and a very well execution makes this song very captivating. You've done well DanJohansen, please continue making more amazing music
