XallanGT, "mediocre?" Well, it's true that this series better, and really more like rpg.
In my opinion, you're perfectly right, except for the episodes 6, 7 and 8. And besides, Sonic rpg are in the Movie type if I remember well.

Yes, at the time all my Flash's were on movie format. I guess many people has their different opinion.
In my opinion, this is far better than the mediocre Sonic RPG series. It actually feels like you are playing an RPG, whereas the former was more like an interactive flash animation (in fact, one of the episodes has no player interaction at all.) I wouldn't put it in a Top 10 Flash Games list -- in fact, I wouldn't even put it in a Top 50 -- but it is an enjoyable experience and definitely showcases Maren's potential more than Sonic RPG.

Awesome Start
This is indeed an awesome RPG series. It feels very much like an actual RPG game, as to where the " Sonic RPG " series, felt/feels more like an interactive movie. The Graphics/Sprites are very well done. The Sound Effects&Music are top-notch. And mainly the Battle-System is done extremly well! (I like how Ristar Attks, and the name of the Special Skills!) I also like how the enemies don't just randomly appear out of thin air, like most RPG games. I like how they're actually running around and stuff. It makes it feel more realistic, AND it makes training a whole lot faster&easier that way.
An awesome game, and I can't wait 'til the next 1 comes out! Atleast; I HOPE it'll come out eventually. I'm referring to eps.3 as I have already played eps.2 I just never left any reviews, so I've decided to strt now. Anyway... Congrats on the strt, of an awesome RPG series! Keep up the good work, and Plz make eps.3

Well, I was very motivated to go on with this series, but Sprite movies have been more and more underrated! lol Anyway, I'm just finishing Episode 9 of Sonic RPG and then MAYBE I'll take on Ristar again!
